"Incomparable gateway to Picos de Europa"
We stayed at this Parador for only one night, but, like with other Paradors, we wished it had been longer.
The Parador is located on a bend of the river Sella, with beautiful grounds and great views. The accommodation section is new but in keeping with the style of the annexed building... built in the 12th Century! It has an exquisitely carved chapel, which you access directly from the parador, where you can see the real Middle Ages although it is still used as a place of prayer by the locals.
Service was friendly and breakfast full of local delicacies apart from the usual stuff. As well as a bottle of Cava (Spanish champagne) for anybody to taste.
Our room (like all other rooms we got in Paradors) was very spacious and tastefully decorated, including a sitting area and a desk/work area and had a full bathroom with all the amenities.
This is a great place to stop on the way to the incredibly beautiful Picos de Europa and the so loved by the Spanish Sanctuary of Covadonga.
We'll be back!
