Parador Carmona Hotel "Alcazar del Rey Don Pedro" as it is known was built on the Alcazar de Arriba, one of the three moorish fortresses of the town. It was used as a residence by king Don Pedro I who turned it into a luxurious Palace, It was also the residence of the Catholic Monarchs during their camping against Granada.

"Parador Paradise"
We stayed for 2 nights at the end of our 2 week trip through Spain. If we had stayed at the beginning, we never would have seen the rest of Spain. Thr parador is at the top of a hill, with fabulous gardens and pool. Roosters and cows are the backgroumnd sound as you relax with a drink or expresso by the pool. The staff is excellent. We ate one night in the restaurant, excellent food and service. The menu features regional dishes and an irresistible dessert bar. Sevilla is a short 20-30 minute drive. The town of Carmona is a sleepy little town with quaint shops. There are several Roman remains to explore. We are already planning our next trip with an extended stay at the Carmona Parador.

"Parador luxury and a fascinating little town"
Set in a castle, the hotel is cleverly designed and is an eclectic mix of Islamic style ( exemplified by a stunning courtyard ), beautiful public areas ( balcony terrace with superb views ) and a magnificently sited pool down below the imposing hotel building amidst a sea of plants and trees. There are lots of attractive Moorish tiles around, and our room was excellent ( top floor with great views ). It is a good starting point for a wander amongst the many historic churches, convents and other buildings in Carmona. We particularly recommend the San Fernando restaurant which overlooks the old square.
