"Great Ambiance"
Unlike some paradors which appear historical on the outside, but are completely modern on the inside, this is a real fortress sitting on top of a hill with great views in every direction. The rooms are quite traditional, with tile floors and heavy, wooden furniture. The bed was very comfortable. We got not only the canopy bed that we asked for, but it came with drapes that close and a living room as well, at no extra charge. Each room has a balcony where two people can sit comfortably and enjoy the marvelous views over the city below and the mountains across the Ebre valley. The staff were very courteous, walking out to our car in the parking lot to bring in our luggage. The restaurant was beautiful, with historic architecture similar to the rooms, but more elegant. The food was excellent, both at dinner and breakfast. The town is at the foot of the hill, but we were so enchanted with the parador that we didn't visit the town until after we checked out. For people who appreciate a historic hotel, this is a do-not-miss hotel. Plus it is good value for what you get.
