'merluza a la gallega' (hake galician style) and 'filloas' (type of crepe) in cream scented with eau de vie are good examples of the gastronomy on offer.

"great break"
This parador is not in the busiest part of the country and we did not expect much. But after a long drive in the scorching sun it was not only a haven but heaven. The building and rooms are nice but the real goody is the garden and pool. Situated on a slight hill opposite Monterey castle (yes, the mother of all Montereys) it provides space to relax and chill down from sightseeing and driving. The garden was nice, big and clean and so was the pool. There is also a terrace to have drinks and watch the sun setting over the surrounding gentle hills. Perfectly relaxing and well worth taking a break there on a vacation in a hot Spanish summer.
