"A Nice Place"
I stayed there for 9 days. It is a little out of the way, but the Metro\Subway is right down the street. There is a Pizza Hut and McDonalds nearby. The breakfast was nice and included in the price of the room.
The desk people spoke good English. They provided free transportion to\from the city center. My room was $110 a night and seemed like a bargain. The TV selection in the room is not the best, but I had a power converter and DVD player with me. Bring cables if you want to use it with the room TV.
As a bonus, there is a attached German Style Restaurant in the lobby with good food and great beer. I didn't eat lunch or dinner places in the hotel. I was told by other guests that the food was good and fairly priced. I ate breakfast at hotel and would walk down the street to the market for snacks and etc. to eat in my room.
The only down side I can find is a $20-30 cab fare to the airport. This seems to be a standard price for tourists. No matter where you stay, take a long a jacket with a inside zippered pocket for you valuables. You need to watch out for pickpockets on the subway.
They claim to have radio in the rooms, they do, but you can not change channels. There are two dials on the wall. One for channel and the other for volume.
The hot water has a yellow tint to it, but I had ZERO problems with the cold water. I think the cold is safe to drink, I had no problems with it. You can buy water and snacks in the lobby. For the money, this is a hard place to beat!

"Magnificent!"
Overall magnificent hotel. Only real dissapointment was the lack of hairdryers already in the rooms, after I'd read many sites saying that there would be one.
5 minute walk to Metro station, which is then 6 stops from Nevsky Prospekt, great for shopping.
Should definitely check out the blini house (chainaya lojka) for a cheap but satisfying lunch.
Would love to go again!

"Didnt want to be "Russian" home from here"
The hotel was brilliant. Food was excellent & service was good. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Not much English spoken here though.. you will need more than a smattering of Russian to make yourself understood. There is a theatre in the hotel. When we stayed there they had a local Cossack dance troupe put on a performance. The dancers were brilliant..one of the best nights of entertainment I have ever enjoyed.
