"A Home away from Home"
A friend and I shared a comfortable twin room for six nights. Any problems can be chalked up to it's being a two-star hotel. The walls were thin, but the guests knew this and respected each other. The plumbing has been retrofitted into this old building so the shower drained slowly, but there was no other way to renovate. The bathroom fixtures were new and there was a built-in converter and hairdryer. The room decor was fresh and pleasant. French TV can be very interesting.
All in all, the good far outweighed the bad. We felt at home. The weekday desk clerk, Pedro, was friendly and extremely welcoming and helpful. He even provided an adaptor for my converter. The maids were excellent. The hotel was clean, and comfortably warm in the cold Paris nights, and accessible 24/7.
It is located in an interesting neighborhood just south of Montmartre. You can easily walk to Sacre Coeur. The #85 bus on the corner stopped at the Louvre. Metro stops were nearby. The nearby Rue de Martyrs had been written up in the New York Times and was as interesting as they said. The house across the street was the birthplace of the composer, Bizet.
A great value for the price.
