"Great views & good facilities" The Pestana was the perfect hotel for our 4-day stay in Rio. We had a junior suite with a balcony overlooking Copacabana beach. The room was lovely, spacious and very clean. We had plenty of space to eat in if we wanted to (we did so twice) and the location was great - walkable to Ipanema and the other end of Copacabana. The pool was lovely, a little chilly but with beautiful, sweeping views. Service was excellent, everyone was extremely helpful. I got into our room at 8am and we managed to extend our late checkout to 5pm the day we left. We were at the hotel in July, so the dead of winter - we paid roughly $250 per night, not amazing value but we felt it was fair. I'd definitely stay there again. "Very Nice Hotel" A fantastic hotel overlooking the famous Copacabana beach. It has a modern, charming designed hall and a great staff. We can only give 4* to their rooms, tough they were always clean, but no bath tub. We would gladly rate them 5* if they had the same modern décor and tub. The roof top pool is delicious along with the jacuzzi, pity the bar was under conservation. Up there you see paradise, throughout the night. Rio never sleeps, it’s wonderful. The bar is chic and it’s inevitable to get a caipirinha while listening to Jobim’s music. If you let yourself go on the H. Stern “tour”, for which you have a store at the lobby, you’d better have your credit card kept in the room’s safe. You may loose your head and some money, though it can be considered a good investment. When we return to Rio, we’ll sure consider staying again in this hotel. Nearby you must try the churrascaria Monchique. It’s a very nice and popular rodizio restaurant with an excellent food, not expensive and very cosy.

"A moderate price for 5-star service and rooms!" My partner & I stayed there and were simply amazed at the view from the rooftop pool. The attentive service was great and really what we needed as we had never been to Rio. The concierge, Rui Barana, was amazingly kind, informative and helpful in getting us to places around Rio. You'll appreciate this if it happens to rain a day or two on your trip as it did for us -- can you imagine a rainy day in Rio?! -- but the hotel helped us with getting us a rainy day tour with of must-see museums, cultural offerings and dinner. The rooms were immaculately clean, spacious -- inside tip: even the rooms that are partial-view of the ocean (which we had) were great - unless you want to really pay alot don't get the full ocean view rooms. Honestly I can't say enough nice things -- we pretty well-traveled and would certainly recommend this hip, central hotel to any travelers that want a great view, excellent service for a decent price. (also the gym on the rooftop was awesome - great to have the wide open ocean as you backdrop)
