Pestana Viking
The Pestana Viking has been completely renovated over the 2005/2006 Winter and it is now a very modern hotel with very charming rooms.
As the building is from the seventies (i.e. an unexiting lowrise building), the recent renovation tried to follow through this seventies style in the outfitting of the lobby and the restaurants and succeeded quite authentically in recreating a seventies admosphere. Back in the rooms and appartments we were positively surprised by the modern outfit. All rooms have new terracotta floor and wooden furnishings with turquise and green sofas. The bathrooms have modern fittings with square wash basins. When you switch on the light in the bathroom you can have an optional blue halogen light which creates a cool effect when taking a bath or shower. Overall the interior decorators tried to cope with the given seventies architecture of the building and making it a modern hotel of the presence.
Great is the lawn around the swimming pool which sits on top of the cliffs. The garden is very tidy. In addition the hotel has also a very nice kids club with nice babysitters. In addition the spa seems to be in the process of being fitted out.
In all the Viking pestana is a nice, clean and modern place if you travel with small children. It is good value for money. |
