"I'd stay here again"
We booked this hotel due to advice from trip advisor and because the hotel had no bad reviews. It was a worry off my mind and as it lived up to expectations helped to make the stay more enjoyable.
The hotel was in a pleasant spot just yards from the beautiful Plaza Mayor.
Madrid was useasonably cold and we couldn't work out the heating system but were given an extra blanket which helped.
I'd have no hesitation in recommending the place - an old building, tastefully modernised which was well appointed with stylish bedroom and an excellent shower.

"Good Hotel, Excellent Location"
Hotel was good, excellent location close to plaza mayor and the main shops. Great bars and eating places around, all within walking distance. Hotel was well equiped with free wi-fi. Rooms were nice, nice bathrooms, excellent powerful showers but floor was prone to getting very wet due to small shower screens. Staff were friendly. Probably wouldn't rate it as a 4* though, more 3. Overall good and fairly priced.

"Excellent location, no complaints."
I've stayed in quite a few hotels in this chain, and this was the best so far. Easily accessible from the Metro (1 minute walk away), and close to cafes, shops and bars. It is in a pedestrianised area, so there is no traffic. There is some noise from metal shutters at nearby businesses closing late at night, and opening up in the morning, but nothing like the noise I've experienced elsewhere in Spain (including Madrid).
I was initially put in a large (2 bed) smoking room against my booking request - and it was the smelliest room I've ever encountered. On complaining I was immediately moved to a non-smoking room - which was even bigger - there were 3 single beds, and a small balcony overlooking a narrow street. The bathroom had a hi-tech power shower and a 'marble' trough type sink. The bathroom walls were sandblasted glass - I'd not stay in this chain except when travelling alone; they all have the same bathroom 'concept' which doesn't offer the total privacy that we Brits require!
Although the hotel staff understood English, they didn't appear to speak it - but that didn't present any problems to me.
The corridor lighting is wierd - there are blue lights by each room door, and that's all. Rather like walking around a spaceship... I'm guessing there were problems with light leaking under room doors, and the blue light prevents this.
I did not have breakfast here; free coffee and fruit juice is supplied from 11am in the foyer, and there is a water cooler.
I would definitely stay here again if travelling alone.

"Loved it!"
We stayed there for 4 nights late September 2006. The hotel is cute and clean and the location is great. We had a fantastic room.
The location is excellent, in the heart of old Madrid.

"fantastic decor, central location"
Very central location beside plaza mayor and close to restaurants shopping and transport. Hotel is funky - well decorated modern rooms yet a beautiful old building really contrasts with the decor. The bathroom was fun - a frosted glass room wit huge shower and modern fittings including for once a great hairdryer! You don't have much privacy though. Our room was a little small as it was a corner room but did have two balconies out onto the pedestrianised street below.

"Perfect"
We (wife + 2 daughters) just returned from a one week vacation to Madrid. We stayed at Posada del Peine and found it close to perfection for the price. Great location. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Got quick directions to places, eating recommendations.
Our room for four people was spatious, warm and quiet. We highly recommend this hotel.
