The Pine Ridge Lodge opens the door to the entire Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. Whether the guests' interest is Maya Ruins, bird watching, waterfalls, caving, entomology, biology, or botany, the hotel caters to the guests to maximize their Belize experience.

Birders marvel at the amazing avifauna diversity found around the lodge, within the Mountain Pine Ridge, and throughout the jungles surrounding Caracol. For orchid lovers, the lodge has accumulated an impressive collection of orchids that boggles the imagination. Botanists from around the world have come and studied our incredible flowers. Or, if the guests simply want to indulge in the natural surroundings, they can slip away in the jungle and find a nice shady spot for a private dip under a waterfall.

LOCATION

Pine Ridge Lodge's unique mountain location enjoys temperatures almost ten degrees Fahrenheit cooler than lodges closer to nearby San Ignacio. While the tropical sun will woo the guests into the swimming holes throughout the property during the day, they will need at least one cover at night, even during the height of summer. This refreshing mix staves off the sweltering heat and enhances the guests' overall comfort while at the lodge.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

* The primary objective of the hotel is to provide the guests with privacy, peace and solitude within a natural setting. The accommodations include three distinct styles: Forestview, Mayan & Riverview cottages. The six cottages are clean, comfortable and have private bathrooms with hot showers.

* Even the signs are original concepts developed by individual artists who have successfully meshed Mayan, Belizean, Jamaican, American, and European tastes. Karen Bockover developed the Mayan glyph of a snail-woman that is the emblem of Pine Ridge Lodge. Adam Gottlieb incorporated Karen's colorful design into a T-shirt. Adam's contribution to the Pine Ridge Lodge includes the vivid reef posters and jungle art that hangs in many of the cottages. The natural background inspired all these artists to decorate a lodge worthy of the magnificent surrounding forest.

* To supply the kitchen with the freshest ingredients, the lodge maintains organic gardens throughout its 103-acre jungle property. It grows basil, mango, papaya, pineapple, akee, lime, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, ginger, soup sop, star fruit, lettuce, beans, tomato, habanero peppers, cashews, coconut, plantain, banana, and Barbados cherries just to name a few. The home-grown fruits and vegetables allow the hotel to accommodate vegetarians and other individuals with dietary restrictions. The dinners combine fresh Belizean ingredients to create a unique fusion of Mexican, French, Italian, American, Jamaican and Belizean tastes.

ROOM AMENITIES

* Guests at Pine Ridge Lodge have commented on the unique, original art found in and around the cottages. All the accommodations are decorated with original Mayan and Caribbean art & Guatemalan fabrics. Each cottage is adorned on the outside with hand painted, artistic interpretations of Mayan glyphs. These unique pieces are the product of the world's foremost Austrian-Mayan artist, Astrid Weiss. Her work duplicates the Mayan art unearthed by archeologists and adds color to the hieroglyphics and carvings. Vibrant crafts and artwork from our neighbors in nearby Guatemala enliven the inside of the cottages. The pottery is the creation of Rev. Bill, a deceased local Gringo. The carved slates are the works of local artists Les Glasbie and Juan Tun.
