"the hotel was very central" Piries Hotel was a typical three star hotel. The rooms were quite spacious but the beds and floor were a bit squeaky and the fitted carpets oldish (not used to fitted carpets and wallpaper in my country). However, the hotel was very central. Elvia, St Petersburg

"Central - excellent value for the money" Just returned from a short break staying at The Agon Aldea. Got a great deal online - £66 for 3 nights. The hotel is a 1950/60's property which looks as if it has been recently refurbished and has been done a reasonably good standard. The room was perfectly acceptable, very clean, with twin beds, seating area, desk, TV and small shower room. No aircon though but you don't need that in winter in Berlin! The hotel is located in the Schoneberg residential area of West Berlin. It is a 10 min walk for the KaDaWe department store and 15 min to Potzdammer Platz. The hotel is well located for the U bahn (subway) - one block to Bulowstrasse station (closed at moment) and Kurfustenstrasse U also. Note that many of the rooms face out onto Bulowstrasse which is a main road with an overground Ubahn train line. So try for a room at the back if you are a light sleeper. The official rating for the Aldea is 4 Star however you will be disappointed if you want a boutique hotel or one with day spa and all the trimmings. Think of a Travelodge or Hojo and you will get the idea. A very good choice as long as you do not pay 4 star prices.

"good value for money !" Was definitely a bit wary after reading some of the previous reviews. Was there last week for 4 days. Cost us about £21 each per night. For that price you may be lucky to get a backpacker hostel in some cities ! Definitely cant really complain. the hotel was fine. the room was exactly as it shows on the hotel website. toilet was - as mentioned before - pretty small, but spotless. As with the halls that have been mentioned before - how much time do you spend there - not a lot ! Because we couldn't be bothered with the maids coming in and tidying up our clothes, sheets, guides ,etc, we just left the "Do not Disturb" signs on the door during the day - each day we came back to find a bag hanging on the door with fresh towels, etc. !!! Hotel is just round the corner from subway station (Kurfustenstrabe, I think) and also a main street with loads of shops, etc. Public transport system is excellent. Subway just in front of hotel was still closed. If this is open, may be advisable to ask for room at back of hotel. The 3-day visitor cards can be bought from the hotel reception for 19.90 euros. Remember to get these validated before travelling. Never had any problems at night. Noticed a couple of transvestites at the street to the side of hotel, but nothing to talk about. Would'nt have any problem recommending this hotel if you get a similar good deal
