excellent service lies on a perfect location
Amazing location!!! In the very heart of the beautiful touristy Plaka district. 5 minutes walk from Syntagma square. You can walk to Acropolis, the Athens Cathedral, museums and shopping area. You cannot imagine how it is unbeatable! The hotel is also nice like its location. Modernly furnished. The roof bar has a wonderful view of the city. A wide selection in the breakfast. Want to check your emails? You can use the internet corner at the hotel. Besides these facilities, hotel is well priced! I am very glad to stay there, thanks to gtahotels... |

Great Location
We had a triple on the 2nd floor. Really convenient for Plaka district and Acropolis, as well as transport to airport and port. Good buffet breakfast. Hotel even looked after our bags on our last day when we arrived back from Patras! Would use this hotel again. |

Plaka Hotel Athens
A perfect hotel for our stay . Close to everything. The view from the terrace was spectacular and the room was spacious although we were three grown ups. Very nice service. A hotel we surely will return to. |

"Comfortable. Great location. Rooftop bar A+++++!!"
We had two adjoining rooms that were comfortable and, despite overlooking the street, quite quiet, thanks to modern wondows. Air conditioning worked well. Bathrooms were small but adequate.
Rooms were clean.
The best feature of this hotel was the extremely helpful and friendly staff at reception. They were always happy to give good restaurant and outing tips.
The view from the rooftop bar is wonderful!

"Super Hotel great location"
I have just returned from a three night stay in the Plaka hotel Athens 14-17th August. Super room 610 has an amazing view of the parthenon and is very, very quiet, the only noise i heard were church bells.
Hotel is near the Metro 40 mins from the Airport. In the center of the Plaka shopping and eating area. Great selection of Tavernas, cafe's even a macdonals should you want one.
Rooms clean, bright, very nicely decorated. Bathrooms are average for Greece, mine was adequate, with lots of towels and hot water at all times of the day.
Staff can't do enough to make your stay plesant, and are warm, happy Greek. I have stayed in one hotel in Athens where everyone was miserable, but not at the Plaka.
Breakfast is good, with lots of choice, and despite one review hot foods are constantly filled up with more than enough for everyone.
The roof garden has sun loungers for day time, and is the place to chill in the evening, at the foot of the Parthenon with a cool drink or two. Again the bar man was friendly, helpful, and soft drinks are not overpriced.
The Plaka is a great find, great place to stay and not overpriced either. Families, singles all are catered for.
Its four star for three star prices, and I have seen a few hotels around the world, this one is a good all round place to stay and I would recomend and will be going back next year with a group of students .
If noise bothers you ask for a room at the rear of the hotel apart from the church bells in the morning its quiet.
Will be back again soon ( plaka hotel)
Last tip please remember to stamp your metro tickets in the machine before going to the train. Again yesterday a guy from the usa was fined on the Airport metro for not doing so. I am sure they make money from tourists so be warned.

"Best Kept Secret!"
Location, Location, Location! This delightful small hotel is in the heart of the historic district. There are no long walks to major sites; in fact if you don't want to walk at all, the new tourist bus stops right by the Plaka's front door. You simply cannot find anything better than The Hotel Plaka for location, convenience, clean and comfortable accommodation, and price! Keeping in mind that Athens is a major city, this hotel is extremely reasonable. Every guest has a magnificent view of the Acropolis from the informal rooftop bar. If you're lucky, some rooms have fabulous Acropolis views right from your own window! The Acropolis is illuminated until approx. 2 am and it is a magnificent sight...in my opinion worth far more than any "fluffy bathrobes" offered in a five star hotel! Do not expect, however, American hotel standards...with huge bathrooms and a huge bacon & eggs breakfast. If you want a "resort type" hotel with swimming pool, spa services,"fancy" (have to wear a jacket) dining room, this is not the place. Think European instead and you will be very satisfied with the immaculate, serviceable rooms, air conditioning, wall safe, good closet space, unstocked fridge that allows you to buy your own beverages, and a small but adequate bathroom that is supplied daily with fresh towels & soaps. I understand the complaint re: beds, but most Greek hotel beds "are" harder than our soft American counterparts. I found extra blankets and pillows, which is always a nice "extra". Street noise, too, can be an issue at any hotel, irregardless of class and price. There is plenty of coffee, pastry, cereal etc. in the self-serve breakfast room; also a convenient pamphlet rack for Athens info. There is also a Starbucks with brown leather chairs, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and a magnificent view of the Athens Cathedral right nearby if you prefer. This hotel is perfectly situated to walk to all the major antiquities, the Plaka, Syntagma, Monastiraki and Psirri Areas. The Monastiraki subway stop is nearby, affording you quick access to the Archeological Museum, Kolonaki and other Athens neighborhoods, the airport, and the seaport for quick island hopping. The hotel staff are extremely nice and helpful. I've been to Greece for over 32 years and from a price/service & convenience ratio...the Plaka Hotel is an excellent choice for exploring Athens. I hate to let the secret out, but I'll be making my reservations again this year!
