It is built in 1817, the Landhotel Post Heiligenblut was the first stone house in the village and used as a customs office and horse change station before becoming a hotel in 1898.

Post Hotel is in the mountain world of the Hohe Tauern national park, amidst the village center of Heiligenblut. The nearest railway station is Mallnitz, which offers connection from/to Munich via Salzburg, and is located about 15 minutes by car from the hotel.
