"Loved the Suite and the Service"
I stayed at the Solitaire for a short christmas getaway, and the suite just blew me away. Loved the marble bathroom and lovely toiletries from the in-house Ananda Spa, and the incredible 42-inch plasma TV screen. There was also a kitchenette complete with microwave, a lovely wooden writing desk and a very comfy couch. And for the ladies - a full-length mirror!
Room service was very prompt and food was delicious - the fish dishes were a little too heavy on the sauces (thought there was butter and mustard overkill on the cod I had), but it's a minor quibble. The massage at Ananda Spa on the ground floor was mind-blowing - very soothing and earth-toned colours and great ambience. There's even a little library with books and mags for guests to flip through, and because the place is quite small everyone from the cleaning lady to the doorman knows you.
Location is along Soi 11 sukhumvit - it's within 5 minutes' walking distance from the main Sukhumvit road, so while it's not exactly as strategically located as Ambassador or the Grand President, unless you're chronically ill or obese the extra distance really won't kill. There's a 7-Eleven very close by and the area is well-lit at night. The gym is small but well-equipped, and I think they also had scheduled aerobics and toning classes, but I didn't attend them.
In terms of entertainment, Q-Bar and Bed supperclub are along Soi 11, so I literally just had to walk over for my nights out :)
All in all, the place was really cool. At around 70 - 80 USD per night, it's a small price to pay for a good-sized suite and great service.

"Lovely Room"
Only Passing through and stayed one night. Got great internet price in Executive Suite. Had room service which was lovely. All in all a nice hotel with spacious room, small kitchen area, lounge and great view over BKK. Staff friendly and helpful.

"Good location in Bangkok"
The President Solitaire is in a good location, 5 minutes walk from the action on Sukhumvit. The apartment-hotel is spacious and well equipped, but in need of some maintenance. Small details like taps loose, windows not closing properly, tv out of tune; but overall it's good value in a good location. The staff are great, lovely Thai's- aren't they all? - but the lift operator came in in for special mention; every time we entered of exited, there was a snappy salute complete with clicked heels!
