Great location, hotel old and tired
We have stayed in this hotel several times over the past 10 years and cannot fault its location. However, this has been the first time I have been disappointed in the quality of the rooms and indeed the cleanliness. It was very grubby and the furniture was in poor state of repair. We were further disappointed when we decided to pop down for a swim only to find the doors locked. When we enquired at reception we were told it was closed and had been for a long period of time. It is a shame as this is a grand hotel and dearly need a total refurb. |

dont go to the Quality Inn
We were booked in to stay here on saturday 22nd Nov, but when we arrived we were told our room had been damaged in a burst and we were relocated to another hotel (purple hotel) near the airport, I think we had a lucky escape after reading the reviews on here! the purple hotel was lovely, it was like a travel inn, but the rooms were lovely, clean and warm and the staff were great!....and Glasgow Rangers won! |

We just had to laugh incase we cried!!
We foolishly booked this hotel before looking at previous reviews! On arrival the reception area was clean and the staff were very efficient...a good start to a disasterous stay. We were on the 5th floor and only one lift was barely working. The corridore on our floor was dimly lit. There were rooms with furniture stacked out the door and other rooms that looked like they were being used as laundry facilities with dirty bedding lying on the floor. The carpets are threadbare and in some places held together with duck tape.Plaster and wallpaper hanging from the walls. Our room had no light shade on the ceiling with just a bare bulb. The bath was filthy enough that you could write in the scum along the sides. The matresses on the beds were badly stained and were well past their best. There was chewing gum stuck on the window sill and the carpet was damp under the window.Twice during the night the fire alarms went off with no staff to be seen and when we eventualy got a reply from reception there was no explanation and the fire escape from the 5th floor which appeared to go up to the roof was littered with empty beer glasses. In the morning we couldnt get a lift to the dining floor as they appeared to be out of order. The dinning room was poorly lit and the sign to say "be careful plates may be hot" must have been an attempt at humour because the only thing hot in the dinning room was the tempers of the guests.
We stay all over the UK and have never before been afraid in a hotel. This truly is a nightmare.
The building has the potential to be a wonderful place but please please please do something with it before there is a disaster. |

What a discrace
Just came back from staying at this Hotel, we stayed here 5 years ago and thought it was very tired then. We took 2 friends with us to show them Glasgow. I was ashamed that I had booked this hotel, both mine and my friends shower leaked all over the bathroom, water all over the floor, we reported this and was told someone would look at it. We left 4 days later and it was still the same. The bath was so bad we only took showers, wallpaper hanging off walls, corridors dimly lit, stair rods loose, carpet thread bare, rooms that had all the furniture piled up in the middle of the room, rubbish in the corridors for the time we stayed there, we constantly reported this, but nothing ever happened. When we arrived, only one lift working and we were on the 5th floor, day 3 arrived and we found the only lift that was working had broken down, we left on day 4 and the lift was still out of action. Our friends wife had a bad knee and it took her 30 mins to walk up the 5 flights of stairs. When we complained we were told by the manager that they would change our rooms once only and if that did not suit then we could have our money back and go and look for another hotel. What a attitude. This hotel should be closed down until it has been made safe. This is certainly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I would not recomend it to anyone. Be warned, pay more money and stay somewhere better |

Worst Hotel I have ever been to
They should be charged for false advertising just for having quality in the name. we stayed there for 3 nights and have never slept so poorly. The rooms were filthy, vinigar was used to "clean" the bathrooms, there were grubby fingerprints everywhere. the carpets were ripped, and patched with tape, broken windows, the breakfast was cold and the plates had food stuck on them. We went down to the leisure centre and it looked like something out of a horror movie, there were no doors on some rooms off the hallway with broken tiles and water dripping from the pipes coming out of the wall. sections of tiles were missing and the lights that were actually working were flickering. When we finally got to the end there was a sign up that said "Temporarily Closed, Undergoing Renovations" With pictures of a crystal clear pool, and an excercise room with new equipment in it. The staff had no idea what was going on or what customer service was. One lift kind of worked, if you were willing to wait 5-10 minutes for it. I could go on and on. I have stayed in some shotty hotels buy this one definitely takes the cake. |

Frightening experience
We recently stayed at the Quality Hotel, Quality didn't come into it. It is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, it was shabby in disrepair and creepy with long corriders in fact it was like something out of the shining. It needs refurbishing, the rooms were like something out of dickens era and the bedrooms and bathrooms in need of a good clean. We enjoyed Glasgow very much but unfortunately the accomodation let the city down. The food was good and the staff were helpful. Needless to say we will not be staying at this hotel again. |

"At your peril"
After reading all the reviews on this hotel, we thought we would see for ourselves as we could not believe them!!! (September 2008)
Boy was everyone right - what a nightmare hotel it is. Only one of the 3 lifts works.........sometimes.(Try walking up to 4th floor with shopping bags and suitcases when no lift is working at all!!!!!!) ..... 4th and 5th floor dimly lit and corridor looks like the hotel from "The Shining".....black tape holding carpets together.... Stair rods broken on staircase, very dangerous. Our room adequate with concrete pillows, torn net curtains, bathroom paint coming off ceiling. Fire alarm going off most of the night (No fire)hot and cold water taps not working properly. Breakfast..... what a disaster!!!!! Had to wait 20 mins for a table to find very little food left!! Bar very expensive (£5.25 for a glass of wine) The whole hotel needs lots of money spending on it. This could be made a quality hotel. Location ideal for train and shopping. Even our friends that live in Glasgow and also stayed there were so ashamed. |

very bad accomodation
I have been in Scotland for ten days and my last stop was in Glasgow; this was the worst hotel I had in Scotland and perhaps the worst I ever had. The room was very poor and three of the four lift were out of order and we had to use stairs to get the fourth floor!!!! |

This old lady needs put out of her misery
I too am Scottish and ashamed, I stayed at this hotel August 2008 - it was awful. Yes the location is good and the breakfast piping hot. The lifts don't work, the hotel is shabby and in places dirty. The rooms are airless and very noisy from outside traffic etc. I remember when this was the hotel to go to to see and be seen but now sadly it needs to be re-furbished. It requires much investment. |

RED RUM!
We had read grand descriptions of the hotel, boasting all its supposed amenities and room facilities and design.
On arrival, we were met by reception staff who admitted to "not knowing what he was doin",and he tried to charge over 4 times the rate at which was confirmed during online booking.
He asked another member of staff to help, and this was supposedly resolved. He then stated that we would have to leave our debit card details for a £25 security hold but this would not be charged.
After awaiting 10 mins on the elavator, due to the other 2 being broken,we finally arrived to our room, struggling with our luggage.
We were met by an old fashoined, run down bedroom which had torn wallpaper, broken shabby furniture, grotty old bedding which consisted of one blanket each with a cotten sheet, a thick layer of dust on the units and headboards, and not forgetting a disgusting spore riddled bathroom.
The bathroom was full of mould, broken floortiles, dirt ingrained walltiles and a notice stating that "water was unsuitable for drinking".
This is something you would expect in a third world country, not in Glasgow!
We clearly believed that the water was a hazard when we decided to take a bath, and found that the water was yellow!!!
The window security lock was broken, allowing for full opening of the window, how this passed health and safety issues I do not know!Especially when we had a 9 year old child with us,who quite easily could have reached the window sill, while 4 floors up!
There was no heating, even although when we telephoned down to reception, were advised to use the unit in the room, which was in fact an air conditioning unit which was broken.
We decided to explore the hotel, and found that the supposed grand bars were closed, and that the restuarant only served a limited menu from 6:30 pm until 9pm. Therefore there was nowhere to eat or drink, despite them having a notice on the door stating,"only food and drink purchased in this hotel may be consumed". Were we supposed to starve?
We also found that the "newly refurbished leisure centre and swimming pool" were infact CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT"
After a restless, disappointing night,we were glad to be leaving and checking out. Although, our disappointment didn't end there.
On visiting the bank,I found that I had been charged the £25 to my account.I telephoned the hotel to be told that I hadn't. I explained that I had written proof in a bank statement, and this was when she said I would be refunded within the hour.Which 3 hours later I wasn't. So I telephoned the hotel again to be told that I would have to wait 3 days?
3 days for an electronic debit to my account which any other time is instant, and of which I should not have been charged for in the first place! She then said that she would deal with it right away and telephone me back, and yes..she didn't!
It is now a full day later, and I still haven't been refunded my £25,nor have I received my telephone call!
I being Scottish,am disgusted that people from all over the world are visitng the first and nearest hotel ajoining the largest train station in Glasgow, only to be met by this hotel!
Having stayed at various hotels within Glasgow and the surrounding area, and experienced an amazing, high standard, feel that this hotel gives tourists and visitors to our country the completely wrong impression of what is available!
THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE REPORTED TO TRADING STANDARDS AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH BOARD!

Excellent location for shopaholics
Excellent location for shopaholics! :-)) My mum and I stayed at the hotel for the weekend. We are glad to choose this hotel our stay was satisfying. Our room was very clean ( too important for my mum), well furnished and quiet. We slept very well. Hairdryer didn't work I informed the staff and they quickly changed it with a working one. Staff is very helpful. The best thing about the hotel is to near the shopping area. My mum and I had a great time there and loved our getaway. We recommend it for comfortable stays! |

"how perfect the location was and how lovely an old hotel can actually Quality Hotel Glasgow be"
We were were surprised how perfect the location was and how lovely an old hotel can actually Quality Hotel Glasgow be. I'm sad to read all those negative reviews here and must say, all those problems this hotel has, aren't so bad at all. The only thing that really WAS a problem for me, was that there was no hot water.

"Gr8 Location, Gr8 Hotel..."
I stayed at the Quality Hotel in early December 2005 and I had a great time!
The hotel is an old building but that only adds to it's character. It's location is 1st class, you cant get more central than the quality hotel.
The staff where all very friendly and helpful, from the reception staff to the various members of staff we met in the hotel corridors or lifts they are all very very friendly. On arrival my room wasn't ready but I was able to leave my bags in the porters room and go shopping to fill in the time, when we came back our room was ready and we where given our keys.
We had a refurbished room so we where pleased, the Grahamston's bar is nice and modern and for a hotel that is slap bang in the middle of the city centre the prices aren't too bad.
The friendly staff of the hotel told us that the hotel is still undergoing part of it's refurbishment programme and i say that this can only add to the hotels appeal, as long as the Quality Hotel Glasgow doesn't loose any of it's character or friendly staff during it's refurbishment then i'll definately go back and stay again.

"great hotel"
I stayed at the Quality Hotel Glasgow 1st to the 3rd August this year. the hotel is right in the city centre, close to all shops, clubs and attractions. location is the best.
The price was good value for the 2 of us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. the food good and to have the leisure centre included in the price was a bonus.
I stayed some years ago and to see the change that has taken place is a credit to the hotel. It's clean and tidy and has under gone a lot of refurbishment. apparently there is more work to be done on it too. The bed room we had was very spacious and clean.
I would certainly use this hotel again when visiting Glasgow. Hard to beat |
