"I Loved It!!!"
I stayed here and had a great time!
I stayed in a loft suite (SOO MUCH ROOM!), it had a king sized bed, a jetted tub, a fireplace, and TWO TV's.
The room service was great - great food and it was fast!
The room was cute and charming, staff was helpful and friendly - I WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK!!!!! |

"Great value, service, amenities, and food!"
We just returned from a week in the Canadian Rockies and I did LOTS of research on lodging before we went. The Chateau Canmore seemed like a good deal w/amenities I was seeking (I loved the idea of a loft bedroom and a fireplace). We stayed in a non-smoking loft suite at this location. When doing research, I looked at previous reviews on this site and some mentioned noise from the railroad tracks nearby, so when I booked a room, I asked for our suite to be as far from tracks as possible. A hotel staff member (Brianne) promptly emailed me w/lots of info. She said all loft suites were on the tracks side of the bldg (more gorgeous view of mountains) but we could be moved to a deluxe suite if bothered. I noticed minimal noise in the evenings while in the room, but it didn't wake me at all any night (and I'm a light sleeper). It COULD be louder if you stay in the summer and have the windows open, but we were fine. (I was actually expecting train whistles but we never heard that, just the general traffic noise.) We also got the romance package, which was a fabulous deal. Rates and options may change w/time but, when I booked, it was $139 CAD per night (inc taxes) for the loft suite, and that included a welcome gift from the Rocky Mt Soap Co (that smells really good!) as well as dinner in their in house restaurant each night. We ate a LOT of really good food. It was well worth it to have great quality meals each night after skiing and not have to think about paying for them separately or choosing a place to eat when we were tired. Brianne and I exchanged a few emails btwn my booking and arrival, and she represented the hotel well, gave good info, and answered all questions promptly. (One thing she pointed out, probably b/c people don't pay close enough attention, is that rooms have JETTED TUBS - it's not a whirlpool Jacuzzi or anything, it's a one-person tub, but it still feels really nice after skiing.) Upon arrival, we dealt most w/Patricia at the desk, who was also very nice and helpful (as was Rachell!). Rooms have a fridge (and microwave - and VCR) so we planned to get some cereal and milk for quick, cheap breakfasts and then thought "oh, we have to get bowls and spoons too" but then read a sign in the room before shopping that said if we needed disposable cutlery and bowls, etc, we could get those free at the desk. They read our minds! We ended up being too tired to adequately take advantage of the pool or workout equipment, but looked in the facility and it's all a very nice ammenity. The photos on the website accurately describe all of the facility - rooms, restaurant, fitness area. In fact, we thought our room was so cool we were going to take some pics along w/our other vacation pics and decided not to b/c we could just direct friends and fam to the virtual tour b/c it was so accurate. Knowing that reviews on this site helped me make an informed decision (and ask the right questions of the hotel before confirming a booking) I wanted to make sure I reviewed it myself upon (regretably) returning from vacation. While staying at the Chateau Canmore, I found myself TRYING to find things about which to give constructive feedback and could only think of things like "it would've been nice to have 2 boxes of kleenex so one could be downstairs and one could be upstairs by the bed" but, hello, I could've asked the staff for a second box and just didn't think of it. Oh!, and if you're heading there to ski, I don't think it's advertised on their site, but they have a ski room on the 1st floor - you get a key (free) at the desk and can lock skis in the room. They also have a table and iron in the room for waxing. You can also buy lift tickets at the desk for the 3 major ski resorts which saves time and you can put them all on your hotel bill. Current rates are $55/ticket for a day lift ticket - I would advise this for Sunshine or Lake Louise w/current rates b/c $55 is cheaper (I think Sunshine is $62) but, for Norquay, I wouldn't do it b/c Norquay's day rates currently are $49. Overall, we had a great time, and would definitely stay w/Chateau Canmore again. It was a good price (esp comparatively for the area for similar in room features - and trust me, I looked EVERYWHERE before booking), we enjoyed our 4 nights there, and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. I was only left feeling leery about staying "outside" Banff but, you have to go thru that area to ski, so we saw plenty of that, and Canmore, although smaller than Banff, still has a cute downtown, a regular grocery store if you want stuff to eat in room or on the slopes, lots of restaurants, etc. It was right off of 1, so it was easy to find and get back to after long ski days. |
