March 2008
We arrived to find we had a choice of smoking/non-smoking rooms which was great. The room was large and clean, with ensuite, hairdrier and tea/coffee making equipment. The breakfast buffet was immense, our favourites were the freshly prepared omelettes. Our room was cleaned every day, sheets were changed during our stay, and towels changed as often as we needed. All staff were friendly and efficient. The pool was small, but nice and quiet wfor a peaceful afternoon swim whilst we were there. |

"High standard hotel"
This Hotel really is in Top condition and everything here was spotless, the rooms were large, but no view at all from the top floor as the windows are over a large ledge. The staff are abundent and very smartly dressed (uniformed). and while they are curtious and helpful, you could not describe them as friendly and i never saw one of them smile, this seems true of all the hungarians i met.
The breakfast here is above average and the restaraunt is very nice.... a very nice string Quartet play here at dinner time, so be prepared to be serenaded.
The area here feels very safe, and the whole city is very clean.

"decent hotel with good location"
This hotel is on the tour group circuit, but it is nevertheless a decent experience. The room was ample, cleaned late in the day, but well done except for the fact that drinking glasses were not replaced after use nor were they washed, and sheets were not changed for the four days we were there.
Beds are comfortable except there is a rubberized mat under the sheets (as there was in all the Radissons we stayed in) which made the beds feel too warm after sleeping in them for a time.
A large breakfast buffet was included with our room, but because of the the number of tour groups, the restaurant gets crowded quickly, especially around 8 AM. It was hard to hustle through the crowds and finding a table was sometimes a problem. Two mornings they opened an alternate room which was a big help.
The selections were good to very good except for the scrambled eggs which were either underdone or overdone. Bacon, sausage, coldcuts, cheeses, smoked salmon, breads and rolls, fresh fruit, pastries, assorted cereals hot and cold, yogurt, juices, coffee and tea were constantly being refilled.
There was a funny sign that told you "eat everything, pack nothing!" The restaurant staff polices the area looking for miscreants, and if someone is caught making a sandwich for later, he is admonished by the table wardens who snatch dishes and silverware off the tables the moment your fork is off the plate.
Staff was aloof--no smiles, no recognition, and sometimes more interested in completing their work at their stations than in acknowledging guests. We waited several minutes for a clerk to look up so we could ask a question. She saw us, but continued
to work at her computer. Finally, I said "excuse me, miss..." and
she responded with " Just a minute--I'm not finished with this."
Location of the hotel is great. It is on the Pest side which is handy for restaurants, banks, and bars. The yellow line subway at Octagon is only a few blocks away and whisks you into town in minutes. The blue line subway is a few blocks in the other direction.
Near the train and bus station two blocks away, there is a McDonalds in a medieval cellar. It is worth a look. a block past that there is a huge shopping mall with a supermarket downstairs. The wine department is large and prices are laughably cheap for some good local wines. Spirits are sold too at a reasonable price.
If you take a right out of the hotel door, there is an internet cafe
only one and a half blocks away which is open until midnight.

"Happy to stay here!"
I was very happy staying in this hotel. It was very clean and the rooms were a good size. It's also walking distance to the metro and the malls. |
