"Cheap but very cheerful"
We stayed here for our first night in Vancouver. Hotel staff very friendly and had good knowledge of places to see. Room although small was clean and quiet.
Great breakfast. Plenty of choice.
Would definately stay here again

"What a fantastic little hotel"
I had seen some bad reviews on this hotel and was apprehensive. However I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The hotel is clean and quite. The staff are helpful. The room I stayed in was quite small but perfectly adequate. The hotel is located just outside the main business/ shopping core, but not so far out that you trend into the less pleasant eastern quarter of the city. The rate I paid was modest and very very good value for money for acceptable quality.
I travel a lot and will definitely come back here regularly. I recommend this hotel to anyone who is on a budget but doesn't want to end up in a shack.

"A bargain"
Turfed from my sold-out conference hotel for a single Friday night, I got a great rate at the Ramada downtown at the last minute. Chose it because of: affordability, free wireless internet (NOT provided at my v. expensive conference hotel), and location (walking distance to Gastown, shopping, night life and far enough from bad neighbourhood for single female traveller to safely stay).
Stay was hassle-free and very comfortable, especially compared to my previous 4-star hotel that cost four times as much.
I was allowed to check in early, got free local calls and internet, had guests to visit in my room with no bother.
Room was spotless and nicely decorated. Shower had great water pressure compared to other place. After a day of shopping I did not want to get out of that shower! Lovely.
Breakfast was pretty good tho meatless ... after a night on the town, I appreciated all the free juice!
The pub downstairs was actually really good too. The owner was working the door and kept the crowd age appropriate and not too rowdy/drunk. Sweetheart never gave me a problem as I went in and out to smoke, stop in my room, &c even tho he had a lineup going.
The only drawbacks were that the room was a tiny bit cramped (too much furniture).
A final word about the neighbourhood. Street people and filthy streets is a VANCOUVER problem not a hotel problem. You will encounter this element pretty much everywhere you go in downtown Vancouver. Its the City's fault not the Ramada's. With an attentive front staff I never felt unsafe coming and going from this hotel.
