"Appearances can be deceptive"
When we arrived at the Ramses Hilton I did not think much of it from the outside, however things could not have been better inside, the rooms were fantastic, and the fabulous quilts on the bed were a nice change. Even though you had to almost be a contortionist to see the Nile from our balcony on the 20th floor, we had lots of fun watching and listening to the unbelieveable traffic. Thank goodness for excellent double glazing, once the doors were closed we couldn't hear a thing.
The first night we had a meal in the Citidal Grill in the Hotel, it was fantastic, the service was the best I've ever know and the food great.
The second night we went for a Chinese meal in the Hotel, however there was no atmosphere and the food was very average, needless to say we went back to the Citidal Grill for our last night. If I ever go to Cairo again I will book into the Ramses Hilton

"Exceeded expectations"
We have just returned from a 3 week tour which included 11 days in Egypt
For 5 of those days we stayed in the Ramses Hilton in downtown Cairo.
After reading earlier reviews about the Ramses before our trip I was a bit worried about what I would find.
The reality was actually much better and far exceeded all expectations in every way.
We have stayed in many hotels around the world and the Ramses has been in the upper standard in service, comfort and ammenity for the price.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable, the bed with it's feather pillows and quilts was heaven after long days of adventuring.
The included breakfast was sumptuous and catered for a very wide variety of tastes. Being a predominantly Muslim country you won't find bacon on the breakfast menu but you won't miss it with all the other choices.
Our first breakfast served at 3:00am to accomodate tour time schedules was no less delicious than any we had a later times and at the mention of the desire for fruit individual plates of beautifully presented and varied fruits arrived at our table. Fruit in Egypt has to be tasted to be believed, rich and delicious and ripened to perfection. Safe to try in a hotel of this size.
Our room on the 18th floor looked out over the Nile with it's incredible traffic over the bridge and we could see the pyramids in the hazy distance.
The staff at the Ramses were all delightful, from the doorman who offered to bring the shop complex across road to us if we would "wait just a moment madam" all encounters were marked with similar good humour.
I have no hestitation in recommending the Ramses Hilton in Cairo.
