PROPERTY AMENITIES

* The Library on the ground floor has an extensive collection of books on architecture and in particular hotel design. Meier is redesigning the third floor of the hotel in 2004, so soon guests will be able to read about his work and see it in action. Books can be taken to rooms or the rooftop terrace on request. A three-tiered terrace level with nearby church domes offering panoramic views of St Peter's, Castel Sant'Angelo and Piazza Venezia. Breakfast and snacks are served here in summer.

* The air-conditioned Pompei Gymnasium is lined with mirrors and dark green marble columns. A satellite TV entertains visitors who can work out on the six aerobic machines. A small Finnish sauna is adjacent to the fitness room.

* The excellence of hotel Raphael is enhanced by the well-equipped conference room and the elegant Roof Garden Bramante restaurant located on the multilevel roofgarden terrace. * This hotel has 54 guestrooms, all of which feature antique furniture and
high ceilings. Color schemes are dominated by ochre yellows and Roman reds. Rooms are decorated with Flemish tapestries and bathrooms feature power showers and Bulgari toiletries. Some deluxe double rooms have balconies. Rooms overlook the small Largo Febo piazza or internal courtyards.

Bellissimo albergo ubicato in una delle zone più affascinanti di Roma. Raffinato, elegante e curato nei minimi particolari offre tutti i servizi ed è particolarmente indicato per famiglie con figli piccoli. Disponibile il personale ad esaudire ogni richiesta.

"Great location, expensive option"
This hotel is in a great location, just behind Piazza Navona. Having admired the outside of the hotel on previous visits I was keen to stay here. The service was OK, but the cost of breakfast (EUR 26 each) and the drinks etc compared to local bars meant that we didn't make much use of the hotel, other than as a place to sleep. I'm always on the lookout for a hotel with a roof terrace, but this one didn't encourage you to go up there unless you wanted to pay for drinks - an expensive way to get a great view.

"Terrific roof-top restaurant"
The hotel is well situated in a seemingly quiet street near the Piazza Navona (the heart of Rome.) It is a comfortable stroll to Vatican City too. The lobby boasts Miro paintings and a chic ambiance. The restaurant on the roof top terrace affords a tranquil and pretty view of Roma. There was a yummy dish of pasta that is shaped square (instead of round) spaghetti that I'd never seen before.

"Location, location, location"
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Raphael for 7 nights in Nov 2006. Our stay was excellent and the location would be very hard to beat in all of Rome. We were able to walk to every single tourist attraction in the city (we aren't marathon runners, but we are in decent shape). There are more restaurants than you could imagine within a 5 minute walk, including some of the touristy places in Piazza Navona and more locally visited places in the nearby meandering streets. We were able to walk from the Hotel to Vatican City in 10-15 minutes, to the Spanish steps in 10-15, to the Roman Forum in 20 and the Colisseum in 25 minutes. The interior of the hotel was clean and cozy. The rooms were average size for Europe and the bathroom was larger than many in Europe. The staff was very friendly, in particular the doormen/porters made us feel at home everytime we left or returned to the hotel. Rome was very friendly, felt very safe and was a great place for travelers that want to both see and live history. The only warning I'd give is that Rome is not for families with young kids or anyone that has trouble walking. Anyone planning a trip to Rome should seriously consider the Hotel Raphael. I would highly recommend it to friends and family.

"One of the best in Rome"
One of the best hotels in Rome. Excellent quality superior double rooms with sizeable bathrooms. Enough room for two people to use the bathrooms at the same time - which is very handy. Restaurant is excellent. Plates are designed by the Chefs wife and are decorated in the style of Picasso. Attentive, but not overbearing, reception staff with excellent knowledge of Rome.

"Luxury in the middle of Rome"
We visited the Hotel Raphael in late May and stayed for three nights. It's in an excellent location near the Piazza Novona. We had a good room with a non-descript view, but the view from the roof terrace bar more than made up for it. The hotel and its services are expensive but I suppose it keeps the standards high. There some nice (and not so nice) restaurants within a short walking distance. We would recommend one for lunch that you can see below you from the hotel roof terrace; it is attached to the art gallery behind the hotel. It took us days to find it so I'll leave you with the same puzzle.

Thoroughly recommended
Great location - you can walk to many of Rome's sights and nightlife - and a boutique hotel with character, capable and helpful staff, great breakfast and more. Drawbacks: room was small but modern and very well equipped, while the hotel is not near to the metro.
