"This place is fantastic, worth every penny!"
Just come back from a week in Lisbon, went for the carnival. Fell in love with this country and this hotel! I couldn't really fault this hotel. It was excellent and the staff were helpful. The location was great with a shopping centre that opened till midnight (with a good restaurant on the 7th floor) just across the road from the hotel. The station was very closed by, which was handy. This place really does look like their website. Worth ever penny, enjoyable wonderful hotel.

"Great restraunt, great hotel"
This hotel is one of the best I've stayed in a long time. The rooms where immaculately cleaned every day, tastefully decorated, and the location was just prime. I spent 4 days there and my wife and I ate at the restaurant 3 times... the food was excellent, the staff knowledgeable..(they even have an American working with the chef that was able to answer all our food related questions). The front desk was vey helpful in planning our day,the gave us directions, and advised us on some of the best places to go. I must say I realy enjoyed Lisbon more because of this hotel.

"Recommended!"
We stayed 3 nights. I told the hotel that we are coming to Lisbon for my husband birthday and they gave us free white wine and cake for him. So it makes his birthday special. Hotel was very clean and the cleaner put a chocolate every night. The location was fine. it was about 5 stops from central, but there is metro up to 1am. We will defintely recommended! It will be about 7-8 euros from airport to hotel by taxi.

"Top Notch Indulgence"
Overall excellent hotel. Very professional staff - I suspect the hotel gets as many business travelers as vacationers. All staff spoke English fluently (and a lot better than my Portuguese). A breakfast buffet was included in my rate and had the widest variety of food I've seen in a long time, with solid quality (this mattered, as I did not have great luck on the restaurant scene in Lisbon). The hotel is fairly new, so the bath fixtures are very modern (extra deep bathtub!). My room was very pleasant and clean except for the carpet. Location is convenient - only about 4 blocks from Sao Sebastiao and Picoas metro stops. It's a bit north of downtown, so my taxi to the airport was fast and 10 Euros. Of note, El Corte Ingles department store is at Sao Sebastiao metro and has a full supermarket and fabulous (and cheap) bakery and other prepared food available if you're not happy with the restaurant scene. I only ate breakfast at the hotel, as the room service menu looked a bit expensive.

"Exceptional Hotel, Fabulous Resturant"
On our second trip to Lisbon this year, we again checked TripAdvisor for recommendations. We had stayed at the Britannia in May 2006 and found it quite nice, but wanted to try something new. If we had to choose between the Britannia and the Palacio Real, we would now make the later choice for a number of reasons: Great neighborhood-like location close to wonderful shopping and English language cinemas (there is a 14 screen multi-plex within 5 minutes walk). The shopping center is all one department store but with multiple restaurants, a full service grocery store and cafeteria/cafe etc. The service is exceptional and friendly. We learned when we stopped by the bar for a pre-dinner drink that we were already "on the radar" of the service staff, and they knew our drink preferences from an earlier visit. when we first arrived. The restuaurant is truly exceptional. We had what both of us would agree is the best meal out in Europe (we just arrived from London) in either of our memories. Not only was the food of highest quality but the service was again attentive and generous with samples and after dinner port and truffles. Very firm bed, king size, overlooking the small but tasteful courtyard. The small but efficient health club with again a friendly and helpful staff person. Elevator security requiring key card for access above the ground floor. While we have yet to explore more (we just arrived this afternoon) we agree that this is one of the best hotel experiences ever and couldn't make a higher recommendation (one of us travels extensively on business staying in hotels at least 50 nights per year or more)

"Just a lovely hotel"
After a less than happy stay at Porto's Grande Hotel do Porto, walking into the Real Palacio was a dream come true. All the nice touches aforementioned here were there: the flowers, the candies, the slippers, the bathrobes. Staff were helpful as could be. The room was nice size, the bed comfortable, the TV reception fine. Everything was immaculate. The breakfast buffet was terrific with a host of choices. We never had dinner at the hotel dining room so I cannot comment on that. Three metro stops were close at hand, as well as a number of busses. The old center was ten minutes away by either. I recommend the daily "7 Collinas" pass for all local transportation-busses, trams, metro, and funiculares at 3.30 Euros per day- unlimited use. Loved Lisbon and Porto as well as daytrips to Guimaraes, Braga, and Vila do Conde (all out of Porto) and Setubal (from Lisboa). Overall were somewhat disappointed with the food- spoiled by the Portuguese restaurants in Newark's Ironbound section. Aside from my wife's money belt being picked on the Lisboa metro our last day, I have never met friendlier, more helpful people than we encountered in Portugal. Everyday, there were people who went out of their way to try and help us. A lovely trip and a very lovely hotel!
