Regent Hotel, Munich
Upon arrival at the hotel my husband and I were allocated room 227. Quite frankly I have never been given such an awful room in a hotel - really dirty stains on carpet similar to those you would see in an old bar, dull, musty, ancient furniture, beds didn't look clean either! I could not stay in such an environment and requested a transfer either to another room or another hotel. After a short conversation with a member of the reception staff who at first said there were no free rooms, we were allocated a room on the fourth floor. This was better but by no means what you would expect from a four star hotel. The room was superficially clean - cob webs around the windows, curtains should be cleaner, grouting around tiles in the bathroom needed a good scrub. The decor and furniture in the hotel generally needs updating. The plus points for this hotel is its location close to the main train station and the breakfast buffet. The breakfast staff are also very helpful and friendly. The hotel does not have any tourist information in the reception area in English which I was very surprised at. Personally I wouldn't stay in this hotel again or recommend it, you would expect to get better!

Regent Hotel Munich
On arrival we were allocated room 227. The room was terrible, stains on the carpet, old and tired furniture, dark and musty. There is no way I was going to sleep in the bed provided. The reception staff said the hotel was full but thankfully managed to reallocate us another room. The second room was better but I would have expected better. If the second room is representative of the rest of the hotel it definitely needs redecorating and updating. The furniture is tired and decor dated. The room also needs a good intensive clean not just the superficial wipe down it gets every day. There are cob webs around the windows and the grouting around the bathroom tiles needs a good scrubbing. Plus points for this hotel are its location and breakfast buffte. It is very convenient to the main train station and links to the airport. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the staff are very friendly.

"Loved the Regent"
stayed at the Regent 2 years ago at Christmas. Service was excellent. Rooms were clean and the bathroom was very large. Planning on staying again this year. I do not remember the name of the Italian Restaurant around the corner, but it was the best. When leaving the lobby take a right and go 2 blocks, then another right. IT was in the middle of that block. It is also within walking distance to everything.

"Cannot believe that this is the same hotel the others stayed at!"
We were staying in Munich this month for the Opera Festival. I had booked the Regent before I read the most recent reviews. I was dreading it! We arrived at the hotel and immediately I was put at ease. We had arrived too early for check in (12.30) and were asked to return at 14.00. Our bags were stored for us and a map and directions to the centre of town offered in English. Try getting instructions in German from a hotel in London! When we arrived back at 14.00 we were given keys to a room on the 5th Floor. Remembering the previous reviews I was ready to go into full complaining mode if there were any problems. The room was beyond my expectations in every way. It was a huge 2 roomed suite, freshly decorated and very well appointed. I do not know if there was air conditioning in the room but the mini bar was well stocked and the room and large bathroom were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ok.. the staff in the restaurant were kept very busy and we had to wait for a table to be cleaned. The most remarkable thing about all of this was the price. We paid 108 euros per night for this! I can certainly recommend the fifth floor of the Regent , I will be happy to return and try out other floors and report back. PS Having the shower as an integrated part of the bathroom is very common in Europe and facilitates cleaning. The floors slope towards the drain and I have always found this type of shower very efficient.
