Perfect honeymoon
We had the most amazing week in Stresa. The Hotel was superb, absolutely beautiful. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and they were equally so at Reception. The rooms were neat and tidy and were cleaned to a high standard daily. The Bank Holiday buffet and party was unbelievable, absolutely stunning. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a stress-free, decadent week with the most beautiful views.

"A beautiful hotel with old world charm"
My wife and I recently enjoyed our second stay at the Regina Palace. We stayed in the same room (222) which has a fantastic Lake Maggiore view as well as overlooks the vividly colorful gardens in front of the hotel entrance. The photos of the hotel at their own website show how elegantly appointed it is yet we found a comfortable ambiance. The two elevators are tiny but if there was a wait we would take the grand stairs for a little extra exercise. We found the staff courteous and professional. For example, the friendly bartender, Alberto, went out of the bar into the front garden to snip off a sprig of fresh mint for the Mojito I ordered. The breakfast buffet included in the room rate had a wide assortment of fruits, cereal, eggs, meat, cheese and juices. A perfect way to start the day! We did not eat dinner in the more formal hotel restaurant but rather walked the lakeside strand to the center of town for a cocktail and a home-style Italian meal. Papagallos is our favorite. Stresa is charming yet not too overwhelming nor outrageously expensive. This was our last stop in a two-week Italy trip and we were able to relax yet venture out to explore the town and nearby islands. They are all available by either private or public boat transportation. We took a short cruise to the botanical gardens of Villa Taranto. These gardens across the Lake in Verbania are not to be missed. We look forward to our next stay at the lovely Regina Palace!

"We loved the Regina Palace!"
We visited this Hotel at the end of July/beginning of August 2007 with the company, 'Great Rail Journeys'. As it was a special occasion (Silver Wedding Anniversary) our expectations were very high. Needless to say, our expectations were exceeded. We paid extra for a lake view room which was well worth it. The views are exceptional! Previous reviews mentioned the Regina Palace as being OTT. It certainly is but in a very positive way. Even the walk through the hotel Reception area is jaw dropping with an exquisite chandelier, grand staircase and opulent decor. You really feel you have been transported back to a bygone age. Although we found the food to be excellent , some people in our group thought it too 'posh Italian' with not enough standard fare for the British tourist ! Waiters were friendly and efficient. Located near the shops, ferry port and railway station, hotel is ideal for anyone with walking difficulties. Excellent hotel - can't wait to go back!

"Opulent luxury"
Lovely hotel - the public rooms are just beautiful. The pool area was clean and tidy and lovely for swimming. The hotel room was just awesome - gold decor, 4 poster bed, glass chandeliers, antique furniture and the marble mosaic inlaid bathroom with jacuzzi bath wasc a treat. We did pay the extra to stay in room 109 - front lake view with balcony - but well worth it. The food was very good - we had half board and it was like a la carte. Waiting staff very attentive - especially Mario (he gave us good info on where to go by day)Best of all was on Aug 15 - the was a festival buffet, which was so good it was too good to eat! We will return.
