Relais Villa Baldelli Hotel, a 17th century villa, which has undergone indispensable and maticulious restoration due to the needs of its new receptive function, has maintained its original unaltered condition inside and out. The original working water well is supplied by an underground water table, the paths and the trees invite you to rest and find peace in their shade, the paving is in cobblestone, the walls of the rooms are lightly painted with pastoral frescoes and decorated with vintage paintings and printed reproductions.

Relais Villa Baldelli is a real discovery for tourists: immersed in the peace and quiet of the pleasant and abundant surrounding countryside, even thought it is dose to residential areas and transportation routes. If you look up you will see the rooftops, belfries and towers softly reaching towards the west like a painting hanging in the air in limbo: it is Cortona, the oldest city in Italy, as written by the American writer Henry James enchanted by the city.

"Tuscan paradise"
Although we had a lilttle trouble finding Relais Villa Baldelli (it's not on the top of the hillside but down below), when we finally arrived it was like coming to paradise. Arriving at dusk, Corona and the surrounding countryside were awashed in splendid shades of pink and violet. Driving up the romantically lit gravel path that leads to the relais was just the beginning. A 17th century villa that has been converted into a four-star hotel, Relais Villa Baldelli is everything you'd want and expect while exploring the Tuscan countryside. From the beamed ceilings to the antique furnishings to the wine that is produced from their own vineyards, the hotel was utterly charming with an understated elegance. Our rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed, although the Jacuzzi shower was a little awkward to use. The staff was congenial and extremely helpful and attentive. Even though the hotel's restaurant was closed our first full day there, when our two grown children opted out of a day of touring in favor of relaxing by the hotel's beautiful pool, the staff graciously prepared lunch for them to enjoy poolisde. Unlikke most Italians, Americans love a hearty breakfast. and the morning meal did not disappoint. Prepared daily by the owner's daughter, breakfast was a feast for all senses without being overdone. There was a wide array of fruits and fresh baked goods along with cold meats, eggs and cereals. You can dine in the hotel's restaurant, but with advanced notice, you can also dine al fresco. In addition to the marvelous relais, another treat is the town of Cortona itself. It gained popularity thanks, in part, to the book and movie "Under the Tuscan Sun," but still seemed more off the beaten path than its better known Tuscan neighbors of Siena and San Gimanagno. There were far fewer toursists in the town's main piazza, and its intimate size made you feel like you were wandering among the locals. My husband and I have traveled extensively, and were always in search of that one property or hotel that we could not wait to keep coming back to. Now that we've been to the Relais Villa Baldelli, our search has finally been called off.

"Loved the Relais Villa Baldelli!"
My husband and I spent a wonderful four days at the Relais Villa Baldelli in September.. This was our first trip to Italy and to Cortona and we were thrilled with our experience. The room was lovely and the Common Rooms were beautiful!. The grounds were wonderful with a hugh swimming pool and a small golf course. We didn't have a chance to use the pool because of our time constraints. It was wonderful to open the shutters in the morning and to see the light shining on the hills with church bells chiming in the distance. At night, the lights of Cortona shone brightly. as the Villa is 4km from the town. The breakfast buffet was very inviting and though we're not breakfast people, when in Italy!! We spent a couple of days in Cortona, went on a wine and cheese tasting tour to Montepulciano and Pirenze, and drove to Siena and San Gimignano. The staff were extremely hospitable and we would not hesitate to return on our next trip, although we would stay longer.

"A Romantic's Paradise"
My husband & I felt like we were on our second honeymoon. The villa is situated in the countryside looking up at Cortona, among vineyards, and olive groves. We were accommodated in everyway. Would you like food when the kitchen was closed, a rental car for a Sunday? Sure! They'll have something fresh made for you and have Mossimo drop off a car on his day off. Don't miss the breakfast. It was the best breakfast we had in Italy.
