"Great Location"
We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights as the first part of a "road trip" around southern California last September. The drive from LAX to the hotel was interesting to say the least. It was my first time in LA (although not the States) and I couldn’t get over the time it takes to get anywhere by car. The hotel is in one of the best locations in LA if you want to be based around Hollywood. The hotel is part of a huge complex, which includes a shopping mall and restaurants and opens right out onto the Hollywood Boulevard. One exit actually takes you down onto the Chinese Theatre forecourt where you’ll find sight seeing trips and film stars handprints in concrete. There are also countless impersonators hoping for you to have your picture taken with them for a few bucks. One evening we listened to a Nirvana tribute band playing on the boulevard. Whoever they were they kept us entertained for half an hour with a good rendition of Seattle’s finest. All this is within 5 minutes walk from the hotel reception. The hotel itself is nothing special but it is a nice modern well-run hotel with comfortable rooms and a great pool area. The only criticism I would make is that the internal design seems a little bland, especially in the lobby bar area. But hey it’s no big deal.
The hotel is also about 5 minutes drive from one of the freeways, which means it’s easy to get out to the sights of LA even if it takes a while to get there.
We had a room looking out the side of the Hotel directly onto the hills and the Hollywood sign – fabulous!
PS – If you want reasonably priced food you can’t do better than the Hollywood Grill in the Mall attached to the Hotel – try the meatloaf.

"Wonderful experience"
We went to Renaissance for a business trip. Great service, great view - we actually had a room on the 19th floor. The Club Level VIP lounge was perfection - enjoying some wine and cheese while looking at the hollywood homes was quite an experience. The hotel was well decorated, we loved the contemporary pieces throughout the lobby. The bedroom was great, the radio was turned on when we arrived, we felt like dancing while enjoying the view for the first time.
Location, location, location - great shops, cute restaurants, a lot of extravagant people. Could we have asked for more ? I don't think so.
