"Fantastic hotel with great service"
We spent 4 nights here in March 2007, and were delighted with the accommodation.
The hotel was located near the harbour and was within walking distance to Pacific Centre (one of the main shopping centres) and Robson Street. The front desk staff and doormen were polite and helpful, and the Concierge lady was excellent. She helped us organise tours, find places to eat and made us feel most welcome. The hotel also provided free internet access in the lobby.
Our rooms on the 14th floor were immaculate. Complete with a small balcony, the room provided a fantastic view of the harbour (included a snow covered mountain and sea planes), heated bathroom tiles and one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in.
The Renaissance was one of the best hotels we have stayed in, and we will definitely stay here again.

"good hotel"
This hotel is on the waterfront facing the seaplane terminal. Get a harbor view room and the view is good. Stanley park a short distance away and close to cruise terminal. The rooms are a good size. food is very good.Staff very helpful. The only down is if you haveyour own car it costs$19 every time you go in and out the car park.

"Wonderful all round"
Never been to Vancouver or indeed Canada before but if this hotel is anything to go by we'll certainly be back. The view - admittedly we paid extra for it - is fantastic, across the harbour (and the seaplane base) to the mountains: you'd find it hard to beat at any hotel in any major city anywhere else in the world. Despite the size of the hotel, it remains friendly and welcoming, with genuinely helpful staff, who were all too keen to resolve a confusion over our bill which elsewhere could easily have become a dispute. And the price we paid (C$250 or so for one of the best rooms in the place, and champagne, and breakfast) wouldn't buy you anything nearly as luxurious in the UK. Very highly recommended.

"Absolutely fabulous hotel"
This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel in a fabulous location for exploring both downtown Vancouver and the North Shore. Breakfast is great (at about £10 for a continental buffet consisting of tea/coffee, fruit juice, cereal, make your own muesli, fresh strawberries, pineapple, melon, pastries, muffins, toast, bagels, smoked salmon, etc, etc.). The front desk helped me retrieve one of my cameras that I left on the Airporter bus and Joseph in the restaurant can't be complimented enough for his manner, customer service and his fabulous fruit smoothies.
Building work is going on in front of the hotel but as long as this doesn't build too high won't spoil the view from the harbour view rooms. We had a room on the 16th floor looking across the harbour and it was simply stunning waking up to the view and watching the float planes take off and land right outside.
The 24 hour gym is well equipped and like the rest of the hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained, as is the pool and jacuzzi with harbour view.

"Perfect Stay with Great Service"
Just returned from a sunny weekend in Vancouver. Hotel was gogeous and the service was impecable - from the valet to room service to the desk clerks. Our room service orders were brought up quick, our room was cleaned and stocked with ease and every staff member we encountered had a smile.
Kids were thrilled with the indoor pool and hot tub and the fitness room was well equipped. Not busy at all.
Our room over looked the harbor where we could ships and boats and sea planes taking off and landing. Two comfy beds, with fluffy duvets and the softest pillows I have ever laid my tired head on. Hotel location is in a safe neighborhood with a quick walk to Canada Place and Gastown. We even hoofed it back from Robson St but I recommend that unless you have more comfortable shoes on than I did.
Not a lot restaurants close by but since it is in the business district, we expected that. We ordered room service twice, once for a late snack to go with a movie on TV and breakfast one morning. (a hearty "Canadian" breakfast so big that my kids shared) Ther were kind enough to send up a ice bucket and wine glasses so we could enjoy a bottle of wine we bought during our shopping outing.
The previous review about the poor service surpises me since we were treated so well. With such a large group bombarding a restaurant, not sure what they would expect. Overall, it was lovely stay.

Nice hotel, wonderful staff
Stayed at the Renaissance in the middle of a slow week and was upgraded to a harbour-view room. The view was fabulous, despite the low gray clouds and occasional rain showers. I found the room itself to be perfectly acceptable. The bed was comfortable with ample pillows and the heated bathroom floor was a welcome feature. This would not be the hotel for anyone looking for hip, modern or high-tech, however. The staff really make the difference at this hotel. I found everyone I came in contact with - from the front desk to the concierge to the servers in the restaurant - to be genuinely friendly and eager to help. On a final note, there is a lot of construction going on in the area. You may hear a bit of the noise during the daytime, especially on the lower floors. As others may have mentioned, it would be a shame if the hotel were to lose its prized views of the harbour and mountains as a result of all these new buildings going up in the neighbourhood.

Absolutely fantastic hotel
I was absolutely, completely satisfied with my stay at this hotel. From the moment I walked in the door (held by a doorman) to the moment I checked out the next day I was treated like I was the queen in her castle! The service was phenomenal, the rooms clean and spacious, and the view gorgeous (not for long unfortunately, a building is being built blocking the harborside view). The hotel is in easy walking distance to many of Vancouver's attractions including Robeson Street known for its shopping and restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful in recommending an inexpensive place to eat in the area. The hotel is also in a very safe area with inexpensive garage parking. The revolving bar at the top of the hotel offered great views of Vancouver and a wide variety of local beers. Overall, I was extremely impressed and would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Vancouver |
