4 of us stayed here for 2 nights in september 09 and thought it was realy good value. the rooms were clean and spacious. there was no bath, just a shower, but that was fine. breakfast on the sunday was good - it wasn't quite as good on the monday but still not bad. the staff were all really friendly and helpful- with the exception of one waitress- but other than her they all went out of their way to help and all spoke excellent english. the restaurant in the hotel is ok - the food tasted fine but portions were pretty small - the staff recommended a restaurant just down the road and it was brilliant - and cheap! the hotel operates a free shuttle bus to and from the airport but only up to 2pm each day. just phone the hotel to book it. the hotel was a short bus ride from the train station but the bus stop was practically outside and only costs 1 euro (this allows you to take any number of bus journeys within a one hour period). travelling around is very easy - florence is great and only about one hours train ride away - 11 euros. lucca is lovely and only takes about half an hour - 2.4 euros. if you are going to go up the leaning tower it costs 15 euros and you will be given an allocated time slot. we had to wait 2 hours so buy your ticket as soon as you get there. one word of warning - we fancied a snack when we got to the tower so went to a small restaurant just by where the bus dropped us off, before you go through into the tower square (next to where all the hawkers are selling tourist stuff)- between 4 of us we had 2 pizzas (really not that good) 2 beers and 2 bottles of water - it cost 45 euros! they gave us a knife and fork each when we sat down and then added 2 and a half euros for each person for using them!! a real con - and expensive even without this extra add-on cost but other than that we and a really good stay and would go back. we would definitely use this hotel again

"Fantastic Hotel"
Was also a little concerned about staying at this hotel after reading the reviews although had read good reviews else where. Thought that the hotel was fantastic and while it was not located in the heart of Pisa it was a pleasent 20 minute walk into town or a few minutes on the number 9 bus which drops you off right outside the hotel. Would recommend the takeaway pizza shop across the road and to the left which did fantastic pizza's for just a couple of pounds and the local supermarket (Pam) does an excellent range of good priced wine if you fancy stocking up for back home. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

My 14 year old son and I stayed in this hotel for a week at the beginning of June. The staff were both friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was modern and clean and the rooms were spacious. Breakfast was excellent. We were a little worried about staying in the hotel after reading some of the reviews posted here. However, we would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay out of the centre of Pisa, which can be quite noisy. It is true that it is approx a 25min walk to the centre but we found it a pleasant walk allowing you to really get the feel of the city. My son and I do plan to travel to Pisa again and will certainly be booking into the Hotel Repubblica Marinara.

"A good choice"
I stayed in this hotel with my boyfriend during the peak tourism season in Pisa. We found it to be clean, comfortable and good value. Our £60/night room was fully air-conditioned, and the inclusive breakfast had much choice, even a variant on Harvest Crunch. The hotel's worst point is its location -25 minutes from the old city, further from the best shops and the Tower- but a bus stops adjacent to the hotel, and tickets were only around 65p. There were also bikes available from the hotel for E10/day. Staff were helpful when approached, and free speedy Internet access was much appreciated. In contrast to other reviews, we booked and used the free airport shuttle without a problem, but it was not advertised, so do ask. On the whole, this hotel was a good choice.

"Loved the restaurant"
We stayed on our first two nights in Italy and really enjoyed ourselves. The walk is lovely over the river and only around 20 mins. The bus was handy right next to the hotel, we got tickets for it but never used them and got a full refund from the staff when we left. The restaurant was very nice and the waiters very accomadating, even teaching us some handy Italian phrases on our first night, along with recommending a fine wine for dinner. The room was nice and big and it was quiet.
