"pleasantly surprised"
It's hard to find accomodations for a family of five, without having to resort to two separate rooms. I made reservations at the Metropole Opera after finding them on the internet and hoping for the best. It's a pleasant little hotel. We were on the top floor, complete with (small) balconies. We had two levels-upstairs (a spiral staircase) there were two bedrooms and a bathroom, and downstairs a room which was livingroom (with foldout couch), dining table, kitchen (wall unit with sink, fridge, and stove/oven), and a second half bath (very important with three kids). It isn't the most beautifully furnished place by any means, but for the price, it was clean and comfortable and had daily maid service. Also it's on a rather quiet street within reasonable walking distance of various Paris landmarks.
