"Excellant hotel"
A great hotel. Rooms were clean. 10-15min walk to the old town.
Food at the hotel was good and it has a Japanese restaurant as well which was very nice. Breakfast buffet was included in the price and had a good range of hot and cold dishes. And a chef to cook your eggs how you wanted them. If not there was a bowl of soft or hard boiled eggs and a tray of scambled eggs.
Room also has a mini bar and the prices are reasonable. We didn't think twice taking a bottles of drinks from the bar. And there are 3 menus for room service if you don't want to go out to eat and again the prices are reasonable.
Went to the casino in the hotel, which is supposed to be the biggest in the Baltics, it's not huge, but big enough and if a table is is full or a game not open you can just ask and they will open it up for you. Also there is a smoking and non smoking section. Drinks are generally free while you drink, expect cockails and non local beers like Crona.
Also has a nightclub in the hotel that's popular, with 3 rooms playing different music.
And there is the skybar on the 26 floor, which gives a great view of the town.
Security in the hotel is pretty good. on each floor there is a security door that you need to open with your room key before you can access the corridor with all the rooms. This key will only open the door on your floor, so adds a bit more security. There is no safe in the rooms.
I would not hesitate to stay at the hotel again if I came back to Riga.

"A nice visit to the Reval Hotel Latvija"
My wife and I just returned last week from our first visit to. We stayed at the Reval Hotel Latvija for four nights and did find it to be a very nice hotel. It was clean, the staff is helpful, it is only a few minutes walk from the old town and it has a large public park just in front of it. For breakfast there was a large buffet. There is also a small kiosk in the hotel.
We found the area behind the hotel to be a lot cheaper than the shops in Old Town Riga so if you go to Riga to do some shopping stay away from Old Town.

"Sky bar is great"
I stayed in the Latvija in October 2006 and had a great time. The hotel is nicely fitted out with lots of facilities such as bars, a casino and nightclubs. Being a leisure break with friends, spent a while in the reception bar, the voodoo night club and the wonderful sky bar.
The Sky bar is Fantastic! 26 floors up serving quality cocktails at around £3 a drink, with wonderful decor and views across the city.
Breakfast was also very good as well.
Rooms are reasonable 4 star rooms, but could have done with a kettle in them, minibar was not too expensive.
Most staff were very helpful although the (some) reception staff appeared a little unhelpful at times. The porter was very good as were the barmaids/waitresses.
None of us were too impressed with the Voodoo nightclub, probably because of the music.

It looks so far
I've done alot of looking through all the hotels to send my husband and his work colleagues for a business trip and this is the most reasonable by the looks of things.
I hope I can arrange a massage treatment for him and he gets to use the sauna etc but I will definately post an up to date review on his return. |

"Tallrest Building in Town"
The breakfast is good and filling but the dining room can be a zoo if there's a tour bus in the equation (and there usually is). Casino is a good feature, as is the upper-floor bar-with-a-view (and Riga is wonderfully scenic). Fine location near the Old Town, parks, museums, restaurants, shops. We (2 adults and teenage daughter) would glady go back.
