"nice hotel"
Nice hotel in the middle of everything. Staff all
pleasant. Most spoke some english. Predominately
latin american guests. Hotel upgraded a few years
ago. On par with a middle-of-the road Marriott
or Hilton in the US. Ask for a room in the back.
Noise from Via Espana is always present since windows aren't double glass. Rooms clean, with
remote tv, ac, good marble baths. We stayed
on the executive floor for a few more $'s. ($95/nite
in Oct.) This gave us a free buffet breakfast in the
lounge. The main restaurant area is about 8 blocks
away. We walked each time. Large american style
grocery store (Rey) only 1 block away. rooms have
fridges (at least on exec. level.) We had hotel arrange for cars to take us for the day. With 3 people this was cheaper than signing up for a group tour. You can ask for an english speaking driver. Visit the MultiCentro (large mall). The Amador causeway has a few restaurants as well to
stop at for dinner. We ate at the Costa Azul (diner like restaurant) around the block from hotel and inexpensive. All in all, Panama City is a nice place
to visit for 2 - 4 days. There was an internet store
with phone service to the US for 7 cents a minute.
Used this frequently as it was also right around the corner.
