"Excellent location"
Stayed for one night before travelling back to the U.S. Very good porter service; upon checking in, luggage was swiftly taken to my room (was upgraded). The room was perfectly OK on the 5th floor, with all amenities. Double bed, separate bathroom, flatscreen TV and a desk. View toward the street. Quiet. I just passed the breakfast area, including bar, on my way out for dinner. It looked a little bit too sleek Scandinavian style. Could be done in a far more welcoming and cozy way, even getting non hotel guests coming in for a drink. Had breakfast in my room before checking out. Perfectly OK; Continental. In summary, the main advantages with the hotel are the location, which is excellent on a calm side street off Birger Jarlsgatan, close to restaurants & shopping, good service and an attractive room price.

"Superb!"
I booked to stay at Riddargatan for four nights. I visit Stockholm every week but was visiting a different part this time and wanted to stay in a local hotel. I found it on Expedia. and wish I had found it before!
Check-in was efficient and, as I had pre-paid on Expedia, I wasn't asked for a credit card which makes a change! My room was on the ground floor (Room 102) and was great. Lots of storage space, minibar with soft drinks and safe. There were also nice touches like mineral water and an umbrella for use during the stay. Flatscreen TV, DVD player and dumbells with DVD of how to use them, completed the facilities.
The bathroom was compact with masses of toiletries and the most powerful shower I have experienced in Stockholm! Underfloor heating was great. No bathrobe though.
The room had a small balcony with two chairs and a table and I expect it's lovely to sit out there in the summer, but not in January! The road underneath the window is pedestrianised with only cars allowed through for deliveries and collections. This made it extremely quiet at night which was fantastic.
The room was warm but there was no air conditioning and the radiators were off so I opened up the balcony doors for some fresh air.
Breakfast was good. It was quiet in the breakfast room but there was always lots of food out; fresh breads, juices, boiled eggs, hot cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, cold meats and cheese, etc. The list is endless! There is no restaurant or room service in the hotel but there are restaurants nearby and a McDonalds down the road so its easy to pick something up.
The hotel is in a great location near Stureplan and fantastic shopping on the doorstep, but sadly I didn't have time to get there.
Overall, a welcoming, friendly hotel and the quietest room I have ever had in Stockholm. I'm going back next month and will definitely stay there again.
