The Ripa Hotel, established in 1973, was inaugurated in 1998 after a global restyling by the Roselli and King studio. It remains today the most recent and innovative project in the Roman hotel scene: one of the best architecutal expressions of the new international style.

Ripa Hotel has strived to stand apart from the status quo of Roman Hotels. The hotel has always chosen to make a cultural and artistic statement of itself daring to use a minimalistic style in a city that has made "classical" its trademark. The result? "Discovering a new Rome - Trastevere"
I had been to Rome many times before, working in the fashion industry, and as any other tourist I always used to ask my travel agent “something in the Spanish Steps area”, not an original request but a “guarantee” of being in the “right place”. Last time I was in Rome, I had problems finding something in that area, since it was a very busy week there, in the very high season, so my agent told me about Ripa Hotel, and she explained to me that it was a very cool design hotel and that I would love the area, Trastevere, so she showed me the website and I decided to try it judging by the beautiful pictures. Well, in my previous visits I went there a few times to have dinner in one of the many “trattorias” and restaurants, but never got the chance to stroll around all the narrow streets, beautiful churches and medieval buildings. This time, I found out that not only Trastevere is the most interesting areas of Rome, but there are so many nice little shops to see, bars and pubs to have a “happy hour” drink and the best restaurants in town, and besides, if you take the tram number 8 that passes every 5 minutes in Viale Trastevere, it takes only 3 minutes to reach the Pantheon or Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona area. I suggest also a nice walk in the Tiber sidewalks and in a very short time you will be in the centre area, it’s just amazingly beautiful. As far as the hotel is concerned, it is really cool and very modern. The room I had (an executive) was surprisingly spacious and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful with the hints they gave me about the places to go and see. I really recommend this hotel if you should go to Rome, and try their restaurant, as well as their cappuccino, it’s the best one I ever had…

"Kind staff, good location, value for money"
Helpful staff assisted us very well. Our room was large, quiet, very well kept and clean. Decoration is nice (although I do agree that on the website it looks better because of the flashy pictures). Location is excellent - tramway close and many nice restaurants and terraces in Trasteverre at walking distance for nice evenings out. The only thing we did not like was the drinks at breakfast (not real juices) and we saw many other guests leaving their unfinished drinks every morning - staff should take action upon this.

"Just Magic !!"
My partner and I have just returned from Roma and I feel that I should write to compliment this hotel as our experience was contrary to some of the bad reviews posted here. It was the occasion of my 40th birthday and my partner requested by e-mail that the hotel Ripa consider giving us a room with a nice view to make the trip all the more memorable. They replied very promptly and boy did they deliver on their promise. Our room was simply amazing. We were on the top floor with a very big room with a huge double bed and and a roof terrace to die for that had wonderful views of the Aventine Hill and the Tiber. It was marvelous. The bathroom was even more amazing as we had a huge jacuzzi bath which was great to relax in after a long day taking in the sites. the Hotel Ripa is very handy to the tram stop which is only a short walk away and this makes for easy access to the main drag as it terminates at Tore Argentina and from there it is a short walk to all the main tourist attractions and restraunts. We had a great experience at the Ripa and I cannot reccommend it highly enough. Although I suspect that we were given one of the best rooms in the house (if not the best) I had a look at some other rooms too and they seemed fine to me if somewhat smaller. We have travelled all over Europe and I can honestly say that the Ripa was great and matched and even surpassed the quality of some of the places that we have stayed in before. The staff were helpful and friendly too !! Majic !!
