"The Perfect Resort!"
The reviewer before me couldn't have said it better for me too! First time to Cancun with family and LOVED this resort! The resort is absolutely georgeous, and the staff is exceptional.Every single staff member I encountered was polite, friendly, and helpful. The food was the best! We ate at each restaurant, and couldn't believe how inexpensive and good it was. We ordered some to go food from tradewinds express (buffalo wings and key lime pie for the football game) and it arrived at our door in less than 10 minutes! The wings we're the best we ever had (And I'm married to the "buffalo wing king") and the pie was to die for.
The pool was the perfect temp and i had no problem finding a chair, and the beach was beautiful. It was a red flag all week so swimming was not allowed due to unusually high tide and wind, but I enjoyed every minute sitting under my palapa watching the waves (BIG).
Can't wait to go back to the Royal Caribbean!!!!

"Can't really go wrong with the Royals.."
Wow, our second trip at a Royals Resort, and it was another great one. You just cannot go wrong when you stay at any of these resorts.
The Caribbean was built in 1988, but is on par with all the top notch 5-star resorts in Cancun. We stayed at the Royal Sands in 2005, and it was a tad nicer because it's 12 years newer, but from a room standpoint the Caribbean is just as good.
We stayed in a 2nd floor room, which was great because we didn't want our 20-month old son up on the higher floors, and it was easy to get him up one ramp in his stroller to our room.
Beaches are a little eroded from our 2005 trip because of Wilma, but I'll tell you the folks here have worked tremendously hard to get the resorts in tip-top shape.
The pool area was great, the pool is heated to perfect temperatures. The advantage to the Caribbean is that you can also venture easily over to the Mayan or Islander to experience different pools/views each day. You can also take the free shuttle to any Royal Resort and check out the Sands or the VCI.
VCI is on the north side of Cancun, and has a beach that is ideal for small children with almost no waves.
The only negative we saw to the Caribbean was the long, long walk that was a little rough for my mom from the street, up to the main entrance. We eventually just started taking the shuttle from the Captain's Cove Restaurant to the hotel just to avoid the long walk up the hill in 85 degree heat.
Captain's Cove is a great restaurant. An occasional alligator will swim up in the lagoon and might swim right past your table. I'm not kidding. They also will give you a 15-20% discount for staying at Royal Resorts.
We found the buffet breakfast at the Tradewinds to be excellent, but to save cash, we mostly cooked our own breakfast each day in our full kitchen, had a small snack for lunch, and then hit the town for dinner.
The staff as always was amazing, even the timeshare presentation we went to was worth the free breakfast, and our salesperson was completely low pressure, just gave us a little information, a free breakfast, and we were done in a hour. Nice people.
We will go back to Cancun again many times, and we will always stay at the Royals. Sands is tough to beat, but if you have the opportunity to stay at any of these fine resorts for a great price, I think you will have an outstanding vacation. We would definitely go back to the Caribbean.
Great for kids.

"Great Family Vacation"
WOW, This was the first time we decided to take the kids (2 and 4) out of the States and we scored big with this resort. We rented the timeshare for the week from the owner on [--] and had a blast! - The condo was spacious with 2 separate bedrooms and bathroom with a large living area and kitchen in the center. The view was great. We were on the 6th floor. The elevators (yes they are there and there are several) were easily accessed.
I read another review that said the staff was unresponsive, etc. but our experience was completely opposite. We were checked on by the personal concierge (yes, she might have been in sales but we told her upfront that we were not considering going through her presentation or considering being an owner and she never mentioned it again - she even called several times later that week and asked if she could help arrange activities for our family!!) The rest of the staff were incredible. Any staff that was not accustomed to dealing with English speaking guests (housekeepers, bellhops, maintenance...etc, had a hard time conversing with us but all others were overly friendly. A couple of staff members swam with our kids, helped with daily activities (t-shirt painting, ceramic painting, bracelet making...etc.) The front desk was extremely helpful and gave great advice as to where to go and what to do.
Additionally, it should be mentioned that we met 7 couples who owned a unit and had purchased another or were in the process or purchasing another. This is a pretty big deal to me since the timeshare I owned was a pain in the rear end and I would have paid anyone to take it off my hands (and eventually did). So, for me to meet someone (in real life and not seeing them on a commercial) who wanted to own more weeks at the same resort blew me away. But, I could see why they were!!
Last, we felt completely safe at at home at this resort. The beach was more or less vacant (maybe because it was hurricane season??) and beautiful and we felt that exerything was reasonably priced. I can't say enough about this resort. Please go and you won't be disappointed - our family wasn't.
