It is situated right next to the railway station and is within walking distance of the bus stop. * ASH is the new cafe/bar/restaurant that was opened in January 2004. It has a different ambiance to it than the hotel, but guests who prefer the traditional feel are welcome to continue to dine in the Gallery area of the hotel.

first class service
Me and my husband had a short amazing experience there for our 10th anniversary. Incredible location, excellent service, glamorous rooms and elegant restaurant give you much more than you expected. 15 minutes proximity to the airport is another thing that you should think of. We both loved the wonderful scenery of Inverness out of our window. Dining at Ash restaurant's charming atmosphere is something very special. The hotel is perfect, staff and service perfect! We came back very happily and will surely return...

fantastic staff they are a credit to the hotel, especially the reception staff and the fact that i am a smoker and they went out of their way to book me into a smoking room was really good of them as they didnt look their noses down on me as certain hotels in inverness have done. nothing is to much for them!

Very nice hotel
This is a very nice hotel, situated right next door to the main train station and a five minute walk (even with loads of bags!) from the main bus/coach stationwith friendly and helpful staff. Being next to the train station, do expect some noise from both the trains and the seagulls (there are loads of them in Inverness, and they are very vocal). Well placed to enjoy the Jacobite tours from the main bus station. My boyfriend and I stayed here as a gay couple, and experienced none of the problems that can sometimes occur.

Very convenient and friendly
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Royal Highland hotel at the end of February. Transport connections: It is ideally placed for those arriving in Inverness by rail, being less than 10 meters from Inverness station's main entrance! This was excellent after our 10 hour train ride. It is also literally aroundt he corner from the main Bus/Coach Station, making it easy to reach by coach/bus too. Many of the tours of the Highlands leave from the bus/coach station, and you can book places at the main bus station shop. (My boyfriend and I went out to Loch Ness). Food: The breakfast is ok, though nothing particularly stunning. The room service menu is good though, and is reasonably priced. Hotel general stuff: The staff were very friendly, and, although the hotel looks dated and more than a little worn, it still feels very welcoming. I had a very fast check in (less than 30 seconds!). As it is next to the station (and the lines into and out of Inverness are not electrified), expect some noise from the diesel trains. Also Inverness is very near to many large bodies of water - expect seagull noise! Overall: A nice break in a relaxing hotel.

Very pleased - all round
Very pleased all round with this hotel, its food, its accommodation and its location. Travelling to Inverness from London really has to be by train, as its a two day drive each way by car. The Royal Highland Hotel, is located right outside the station, hence its old name of The Station Hotel. It was built in traditional railway empire style, very grand. There are a good selection of different grade rooms, and we opted to stay in one of their executive rooms.The room was quite, despite its city centre location, and the room was well furnished with a comfortable double bed. The Scottish breakfasts were good, with a large buffet selection with everything from cereals, to cooked breakfast - all help yourself.My wife also enjoyed the nearby shops. It was a great location to travel from.

I stayed at the Royal for 1 night last month and i thought that it was a great hotel with very friendly staff. Although i originally come from Inverness i opted to stay at the Royal instead of staying with my family (the hotel's food is far better lol). Im on my way back to Inverness tomorrow and guess what? Im staying at the Royal again! I would recomend this hotel to everyone and the rates are so affordable and you will get great service.

A very relaxed and unfussy hotel, right in the middle of Inverness. Breakfasts are excellent, with a great variety and certainly set you up for the day. The Ash bar and restaraunt is very welcoming, again top quality food. Rooms comfortable with pristine en-suite facilities. Would definitely book here again
