Hotel Information
An atmosphere of quiet elegance.
The Royal Marine Hotel was designed as a private home for a northern industrialist in 1913 by renowned Scottish architect Sir Robert Lorimer, who was also commissioned by the Duke of Sutherland to restore Dunrobin Castle, which had been ravaged by fire in 1915.
The ambience of The Royal Marine Hotel owes everything to Sir Robert Lorimer: The wooden arches of the entrance hall; the formal dining room; the panelled snooker room, and the grand staircase all contribute to an atmosphere of quiet elegance.
The Royal Marine Hotel has a mix of standard, superior and master bedrooms, many of which are enhanced by period furniture, and has a stunning four poster suite - perfect to make your honeymoon unique.
The hotel has a disabled downstairs room especially designed with a bathroom for wheelchair users. Disabled access throughout hotel, with chair lifts and ramps.
Relax and revitalize during your stay at the hotel, the Dolphin Leisure Club is a place to indulge your body and mind. Staffs offer a soothing sauna and a therapeutic Jacuzzi to start the day, and for a deeply relaxing experience and can organise a massage with one of Brora's two qualified masseurs.
The village of Brora sits at the mouth of the salmon river of the same name and for the keen angler there is the opportunity to fish Loch Brora or one of the many fine hill lochs nearby. Sea angling is also available from the harbour.
In addition to this, there is a huge range of things to do in and around the area. Choose from the list on the left for more details.
A Family attraction if ever there was one, Brora Heritage Centre is one minutes drive from the centre of the village. Ample parking space and parkland aplenty for picnics and energetic youngsters to make the most of our excellent East Coast weather. A vending machine in the building offers a choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
Inside the centre, (which has full disabled access and facilities), our local staff can guide you round the exhibits and hands-on children's learning panels which illustrate the remarkable story of this lively village.
For adults and children alike, there is
a wide selection of exhibits on the local Whisky, Coal and Woollen industry as well as a fabulous new display by our local Clyne Heritage Society.
