"Excellent for disabled person (wheelchair)"
We enjoyed our stay at Royal York very much. All the staff we met very capable,our thanks to Brian, Michael and Colin. Breakfast excellent and very large bathroom fully fitted for wheel chair access. Bed very comfortable. Our room with wheelchair access was on the lower level so no view to speak of but no bothersome noise and we slept very well. Reading some of the unfavourable reviews it is hard to believe these people stayed in the same hotel.

"A splendid room, fantastic view, wonderful staff"
When I read the other reviews on this hotel I was confused -- I thought I had the wrong hotel name! Our stay was wonderful - the room was huge -- a true kingsize bed that was comfortable, a separate sitting area with comfortable seating, and a bathroom that was magnificent -- very modern and most importantly immaculately clean. A glass wall in the shower was really interesting. Large closets, with in room coffee,etc. separated from the main area of our room, across the hall from the bath. We were there the week between Christmas and Hogmanay and I really enjoyed the Christmas tree in our room as well as the large tree in the reception area. The view of the Minister from our room was fantastic -- especially with the large snowflakes falling! (and I didn't have to worry about shoveling it!.) The staff was really helpful - when we were checking out, it was pointed out to us that our rate included breakfast -- even though it was very close to the time that breakfast was due to no longer be served -- we were walked over to the dining area. Even though we were late, the restaurant staff made sure that we had everything we could wish for from the buffet. The porter stashed our bags for us while we had breakfast and spent the day in York, and when it came time to catch the train, it was an easy matter to get our bags back and over to the train station -- across the drive! The next time we go to York, we plan to stay here again! If you have a railroad buff in the family, the Rail museum is convenient and interesting --- even to those of us that aren't rail buffs. The location was convenient to the areas most tourists are interested in and the sightseeing bus is very close.
