The preivous reviews are spot on, my only complaint would be they have no English TV ie Sky/CNN News. We only had water in the room provided on our first of three nights.

Do it
Had a very nice stay for four nights in this hotel. Nothing to complain. Staff, cleaning, chamber and location were perfect, and that all for a very low price! Highly recommended.

"You must go to Krakow"
We booked RT Regent (£37 per night approx) through [--], flying early Tues morning with Jet 2 Leeds/Bradford returning late Sat night, so had 5 days for the price of 3 in Krakow. Jet 2 took off early both ways a 2hr flight and arrived half an hour early, customs at both ends had no delays at all although once through customs in Krakow there are minimal facilities and one shop!!. We were based in the Jewish Quarter and we were 10 minutes walk from the castle and 20 if we didn't dawdle up Grodski to the main sq Rynek Glowny. At the top of Grodski on the right is an IT (tourist information) along a little alley. Go in and buy 'Krakow in your Pocket' booklet for £1. It’s the best guide book for eating out. The hotel gave us room 301, a suite of bedroom sitting room with single bed, TV chairs and coffee table, hallway and bathroom, no bath just a shower, soap and shower gel. The room was warm, and the pillows were gorgeous. We took a kettle and tea bags and enjoyed those. Didn't find a hairdrier. Breakfast was buffet style and fine for what we wanted and the staff spoke english and went out of their way to help you. Book a taxi from the airport through the hotel its only 60 zl each way £12. We picked a taxi up at the airport and it cost 75zl - (another 3 quid). Being in the Jewish Quarter was to our biggest advantage, on the corner of Jozefa street and near lots of lovely cafes, bars and restaurants. We found a bar next but one to the hotel up an alleyway where people were salsa dancing. We loved Kuchina i Wino also on Jozefa st. (£17 pp 2 course/wine/coffee). Other favourites: Balaton on Grodski for warming soup, and there was a place called raspberry something opposite Balaton wherewe had another £12 pp 3 course meal, and our very favourite was Szabla/Szlanka (£12pp all in) on Poselska, off Grodski, the entrance was through a little courtyard, (not under the Wawel Hotel entrance, go round the corner) There was a log fire and fab atmosphere on a cold day. We found a lovely dark but comfy sofa cafe in Pl Nowy round the corner from our hotel, called Brewrie where we chilled out on Tiramasu and huge mugs of mint tea at £2pp. We did the Salt mines by bus 250zl each way = £1. Went in the morning back for late lunch. Recommend a weekday, we queued a while for the lift at the end as it was and that was a friday. Had an english speaking tour guide, and it was well worth the trip. We walked all round Schindler's area and the little pharmacy museum was worth a peep, and enjoyed the Synagogues. St Mary's Church was amazing and there's a trumpeter who played from a top window on the hour every hour 24/7. The Franciscan Church off the Square has a wonderful stained Glass Window to see. Beer was £1 a pint... so cheap, Wine prices vary, but under £16 per bottle where we were, clothes in the shopping centres were not much different to UK prices. The Square prices for food were higher and we found some restaurants where the main course was nearly £10!!!!!!!!!!! Highly recommend a trip to Krakow. We missed the Christmas market by a week but we had blue sky and sunshine at 14- 16 degrees during the day so we were spoilt. We didn't do Auschwitz but can do that another time. You need comfortable shoes and layers of clothes. The Polish were so delightful and we felt very safe in all the streets in the city. We would go again and stay at the same hotel.

"A Christmas break"
We stayed at the Regent from Friday night to Monday night (15-18 December) for a Christmas break and to visit the city in the snow. Sadly, there was no snow. usually at this time of year there is 15-20cm of snow but there was none this time. It was cold however and the sky was clear so it was good for sightseeing. The Regent is on the South of Krakow about 10 minutes walk from the castle and a further 5 to the central city square. You can walk to the railway station in about 20 minutes. It is close to the old Jewish quarter and very convenient for all the local bars, restaurants and cafes all over this part of Krakow. The hotel itself is smart and clean, our room (102) had a double and single bed with a separate shower room and lobby (to hang up all those coats, hats and gloves!). The taxi from the airport was PLZ 70 from the rank, and exactly the same using the hotel's own taxi (driven by Peter - very nice fellow)to return. We visited the salt mines (PLZ 140 for a taxi which waits for you plus entrance fee) which were fascinating. The armoury at the castle will keep any nine year old boy amazed for hours too! The restaurants are great value and good quality (we recommend Smak Ukrainski - try the borsch). In summary, for 3 days Krakow is a great city to visit at little (relative) cost. The Regent is perhaps a bit too far out of the centre for some but we like walking and exploring.

"Great place, great staff, just great"
Fantastic place. Check in was quick, and easy and the staff were informative and spoke great English. We stayed for 3 nights, and on the first night I came back extremely drunk, and managed to throw up all over the bathroom floor. In the morning I failed to clean it myself as it was, well dry and stuck to the floor. When we returned from the day out the scene of the crime was just like when we first entered the room; spotless. The bathroom was very nice, the beds were nice and low and comfortable and quiet. Breakfast is great, they offer everything to give you the energy boost you need if you're going to be out and about all day. Fantastic staff. Each and every one I encountered was a marvel. Another plus is the hotel is 2 or 3 roads down from the sushi bar Edo, which offers the best sushi I have ever tasted!

"Regent Hotel, Krakow"
Just come back from an excellent long weekend in Krakow. Following advice from this site we booked the Regent and were not dissappointed!!! The square and castle are a pleasant 10 to 15 minutes walk away. The hotel is surrounded by many restaurants, bars and clubs in the Jewish Quarter, although the food was always good we found that we were often the only people in the restaurants here whilst those near the square were always much busier. A top tip- we went to the train station to catch a bus to the salt mines and Auschwitz however due to road works we were very confused as to where to get the bus. We ended up taking a taxi, who offered us the same price per person as the bus. Whats more he took us to Schindlers factory and pointed out the sites on the way. I would definately recommend getting a taxi at the train station- much cheaper than the prices offered by the hotel.

"Excellent Hotel"
Just spent 3 nights at the Regent hotel in Krakow with my wife. We booked the hotel through "Travel Poland" and got exceptionally cheap rates - I think about £STG 30 per night for the 2 of us, including breakfast. The hotel was excellent - in a great location in the old Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, which is full of bars and places to eat, and around a 10 minute walk to Wawel Royal Castle and 15 minutes to the main Market Square. We were given a room on the 3rd (top) floor, which was actually a triple room - it consisted of an entrance hall, a very new and modern-looking bathroom with shower, a bedroom with a double bed and a lounge area with a single bed, wardrobe, dressing table and TV. The room was very clean and comfortable and warm, although the bedroom area wasn't the warmest given that it was snowing outside, but it was fine with the extra duvet from the single bed!! The reception staff were very good and spoke pretty decent English, and the breakfast was excellent given the price - more than enough choice of cereals, cold meats, salads, breads, yoghurts and also scrambled eggs and sausages. There were always taxis waiting outside the hotel if you needed them, and every night 3 free bottles of water were left in the room to drink. One thing that has been mentioned previously is the organised tours - the hotel will arrange private taxi trips to many of the local attractions (Salt Mines, Auschwitz etc). Whilst they are not overly expensive, you can get them much cheaper just by leaving the hotel and getting a cab somewhere else. The Hotel were offering the taxi day-trip to Auschwitz for 300 PLZ (around £STG52), whereas we went to the station and got the same trip for PLZ210 (£STG37) - and that was without really bargaining!! I was strongly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a clean, warm, comfortable & exceptional value base for exploring Krakow.
