"Returning to Our Secret Fishin' Hole"
I came to this web site to see if there were any discount deals and noticed that it had reviews of the hotel. I read, curious to see if everyone had as positive an experience at the Sainte Claire as my wife and I. We are returning once again, for our second week long visit. Our friends in San Jose had limited knowledge of the hotel, but enjoyed spending several leisurely breakfasts with us in the hotel. My wife and I enjoyed every detail of our stay at this journey- through- time hotel. Here is a place where napkins are linen and glass is glass, not plastic. I have stayed in hotels in the US, Canada, France, Holland, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. In reference to the negative comments in other reviews; Weddings, babies, and sex happen all over the world. Perhaps I shouldn't tell you that we really enjoyed our stay. Maybe my wife and I should keep the Sainte Claire our secret get away. It's like your "favorite fishing hole"; you don't share it with other fishermen. Perhaps those who reported negative experiences were protecting the place for themselves, but probably not.

"Under New Management--now a Larkspur hotel"
Now known as the Larkspur Sainte Claire. We stayed here for one night at the end of our honeymoon before flying out of San Jose. We bid for it on Priceline and got a deal ($64/night). It was a very nice hotel. It was immaculate and our room was lovely. It has a very cool, art deco feel. We parked in the nearby lot ($6 overnight). Very close to downtown, but there didn't seem to be much to see nearby. A very nice hotel and a good deal

"Great Place to Stay"
Spent 4 nights here when dropping off my son at Santa Clara Univ. It was a great place to stay. I booked the room on Priceline and got an extremely good rate. The staff was great. When he noticed I was traveling with my son, he upgraded us to a room with 2 bed and a room with a view. The room was nicely furnished, the beds comfortable, and the rooms relatively quiet. The location was great - 1 block to the convention center, the opera, the symphony. and a few blocks to great resturants, live theater, and movies! One night there was an outdoor rock concert a block away and another an outdoor family movie at the art museum. We'll stay there again Parent's Weekend! A great hidden gem
