Offers personalized service with meticulous attention to detail...
Even the air of San Domenico Palace Hotel is redolent with the unique history of the surroundings. Built around a monastery dating from the year 1400, with the original structure still intact, it is surrounded by a garden filled all year round with flowers of rare beauty.
The view that can be enjoyed from the terrace and the pool is extraordinary, too: a panorama which embraces the ancient Greek theatre and Etna’s misty peak.
With its evocative architecture complemented by modern and efficient service, organisation and furnishing, the San Domenico Palace Hotel is a unique and unforgettable background for banquets and meetings. The ancient monastery church now houses the Congress Centre. |

"Our favorite hotel!"
We have stayed in many luxury hotels throughout Europe and the Palazzo San Domenica is one of our favorites. My husband and I spent eight days in Sicily over Thanksgiving week with our adult son and daughter. We booked two rooms at the Palazzo San Domenica for 4 nights. Both rooms had balconies with incredible sea views. Unlike many converted monasteries, this hotel is well maintained. The gardens are beautiful. The staff is very helpful and friendly and attends to your every need. The buffet breakfast was terrific. We did not eat lunch or dinner at the hotel. La Griglia was our favorite restaurant in Taormina. We definitely plan to return to Palazzo San Domenica.

"The views took my breath away"
The views of both the sea and of Mt. Etna took my breath away. The enchanting gardens, the terrace restaurant framed by bougainvillea, the well-appointed rooms and a staff that is dedicated to spoiling its guests, made our stay at the San Domenico absolutely unforgettable. The cuisine is superb.
This hotel is a former 15th century monastery and I loved seeing the monastery’s treasures preserved and incorporated into the décor of the hotel. A stunningly beautiful and restful retreat, yet close to the sights and shopping in Taormina. Words are inadequate. A stay at San Domenico is nothing short of pure magic.

"The Best"
This hotel is wonderful!
We recently stayed in hotels all over Sicily and found this to be the "one".
Every luxury is provided and the staff is gracious and welcoming.
The views are of mountain and ocean with flowering gardens and lemon and orange trees everywhere.

"San Domenico is the best!"
In short, we loved everything about the San Domenico. Even in December, the gardens are unbelievable. Bouganvillea and orange trees everywhere. We had a room with a view of the ocean and the porch is almost as big as the room. The staff was extremely helpful, from the concierge to the cleaning staff. We arrived wearing somewhat grubby clothes in the midst of what looked like a black-tie event that was happening at the hotel and the reception staff treated us like we were also wearing black tie. We were fortunate in having almost the entire hotel to ourselves during a week in late December. the breakfast buffet is superb, as other reviewers have noted, and we usually had a small lunch. Drinks are quite expensive, as are other meals, but we chalked up the high cost of 2 drinks against the fun of drinking them in a beautiful old monastary. We hope to be back- not inexpensive, but a good value in light of the setting and service.
