"cant wait to go back"
My husband and I made our first trip to Rome January 2005, we were greeted at the airport by a wonderful driver, (we booked our hotel transfers through expedia) He gave us a lot of helpful tips. When we got to the hotel, our room was not ready, we were told it would be ready in an hour so we went out for a walk, It's not the most scenic area but the metro station is very close. When we got back to the hotel our room was ready and someone took our luggage for us and showed us to our room, its true about the elevator, it's on the third floor (no idea why) but if you have a problem walking up two flights of stairs then you're not going to make it in Rome anyway because there are stairs EVERYWHERE. The room was small but had everything we needed, the streets were noisy and an ambulance would speed by every couple of minutes, but to tell you the truth it didnt bother me at all, it was all part of the experience. The room was very clean, the bathroom was also very clean, the shower is pretty small. we were without hot water one morning, but when we got back to the hotel in the afternoon the problem had been fixed. The continental breakfast was delicious! definitely not what I expected for such an affordable price and the staff was very friendly. There is also a supermarket right next door to the hotel. I would definitely go back to this hotel. :)

"Perfect on a budget"
We stayed at the Hotel San Giusto this September. The Hotel is basic, clean and perfect for doing Rome on a budget. The staff are exceptionally friendly, even putting up with my terrible Italian!!
Its close to a Metro Station which is a really convenient and cheap way to travel around the city. (Weekly unlimited ticket is only 16 euro)
There is also a fantastic restaurant just around the corner, and plenty of shops in the area.
The rooms are a little on the small side, but very well kept and air conditioned.
I would recommend this hotel without hesitation, first class as long as you know what your getting.

"No complaints here"
My husband and I just got back from Rome yesterday and spent 4 nights at this hotel.
If you plan on spending your vacation touring Rome, and want a clean, safe, inexpensive place to spend the night this hotel if for you.
If you're expecting concierge service, 5 star meals, valet parking, etc. etc, then I'd suggest you spend a lot more and stay somewhere else.
Location: 3 stops away from Termini and only a few more away from Colleseo. (Colleseum). The hotel is just outside the BOLOGNA station, at Piazza Bologna. I agree with others, it can be a bit confusing, but look for the Banca Incantessa- it's down that street on your left side. There's quite a few flags hanging above the door. The hotel is NOT facing the Piazza, so take your time to walk around and look down each street if you happen to find yourself disoriented upon leaving the subway station.
One reviewer wrote that there's a "small" grocery store next door- it's actually like a supermarket- like our Safeways, IGA, Loebs, Piggy Wiggly's or an A &P.
Just down across the street is an "American" (that's what it's called) pastry and espresso shop. The desserts in there are amazing! As well, just down Via Ravenna (one of the streets off the Piazza), there's a shop called UPIM- it's like a Zellers or small Target store, so if you're looking for extra toiletries, or some warmer socks, it's a great place to find some bargains.
For directions to a really great restaurant highlighted in "LET'S GO ROME", please see bottom of this review.
Highlights of this hotel-
Internet access- 5 Euros for 30 minutes
Breakfast- meats, cheeses, pastry, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, breads- open from 6:10 to 10:30 (you can sleep in and still get free breakfast!!)
Safety deposit boxes
All rooms cleaned daily
In-room refridgerators
Television- while mainly Italian channels, there was CNN and MTV
Hot showers with good water pressure!
Great location
Quiet, safe piazza
All employees speak english and were extremely nice. If you want good service, you have to be pleasant yourself- seems to apply anywhere.
You can securely leave your bags at the hotel if you arrive early and can't check in, or if you have to check out, but aren't ready to take your bags with you.
Tours with Green Line can be arranged for you at the hotel.
Downside- there is an elevator, but only once you've walked up two flights of stairs. Not a problem for most, but if you have mobility issues, this may present a problem.
May be a downfall for some- piazza is quiet, so if you're looking for a party or a rowdy bar, this area isn't for you.
We had a great time here- we were in Rome...how can it not be great?
If you're just looking for a comfortable, clean, good quality bed, then you should stay here.
Restaurant Il Tunnel:
From the Piazza, walk down Vle. della Provincie
Take the fourth right onto V. Padova
Take your second left onto V. Arezzo
It's at 11 V. Arezzo.
The portions are HUGE, so don't feel you need to order all courses. The pizza only is probably the same as a North American large size. It's open from 7pm to midnight. Great food, great service.
