"Very Good Hotel"
I have now stayed in the Conde Duque for 9 nights on 2 trips to Madrid. Short form review: for future stays in Madrid, I will gladly return to the Conde Duque and will be welcomed by name by all the staff. This is a small, european hotel.It doesn't try to compete with the Marriotts of the world. As such, it's not the place to host large parties or conferences.However, if you enjoy personal service in nice (but small) accomodations, it is an excellent choice. Americans need to rethink their room size when in Europe and especially in Madrid.I had adequate space in my rooms, but two travelers with 2 suitcases each would be cramped.Not impossible, but tight. Since I speak Spanish fluently, my stays have been very comfortable.The staff does speak English at least at a basic level, but prefer to communicate in Espanol when possible. The rooms are comfortable for one traveler and really have all the amenities you need or could expect.But if you expect US sized rooms here, you will be disappointed. The Conde Duque has a very nice breakfast buffet available in the hotel.No one could possibly leave breakfast hungry or dissatisified, unless you plan on Mimosas and Eggs Benedict. Personal attention is the watchword of the Conde Duque. It sits adjacent to a park and is not located exactly on one of the main streets of Madrid.In this way, it's close to the action, but not part of the" Centro".I like it's location...certainly within a 10-15 minute cab ride to about anywhere of consequence in Madrid.About 30 minutes to Barrajas for planes. There is something that the Conde Duque brings to the party that we miss in the US.If you need asistance...guidance...a cab...a good restaurant recommendation...or whatever, their experienced staff happily provides it. No, it doesn't have an inside heated pool or jacuazzi...but, really, who cares? It is just a very nice hotel for traveler where the staff goes out of their way to make your stay a very enjoyable one.

"Charming hotel, personable and friendly staff"
This is my second stay at the Conde Duque hotel. It is located away from the hustle and bustle of Madrid center, but only a few metro stops to the main center. There is a metro stop a few minutes away. The hotel is charming, the staff are friendly/helpful and the rooms are clean, quiet and excellent for leisure or travel. This is my choice when I visit Madrid. I like to stay in a place where you are not a number but treated as an individual.

"Great Hotel"
Great hotel in a quiet location. We stayed there because it was close to our daughter's apt and was recommended by Trip Advisor. We had a nice size room with a good bath and a great king size bed. The breakfast was included in our rate and it was excellent, one of the best we had on our trip. We highly recommend this hotel.
