"Very comfortable hotel in a perfect location"
The Scandic Tampere City hotel has been completely rebuilt, and was re-opened in July 2005, so ignore (or delete?) the previous review. The new building has a tasteful Nordic feel and the staff are just perfect. The hotel is right opposite the railway station and on the corner of the main shopping street, and you can't get more central than that, but it was quiet and I slept wonderfully the two nights I was there. My room was generously sized and equipped with everything you could want (including a kettle, ironing-board and iron). Parquet floor, very nice bathroom, fabulous shower, a big mirror, plenty of wardrobe space and good lighting. The only disappointment was the breakfast. There was more than enough variety, but it's served in the restaurant attached to the hotel, which is cosily lit for evening eating, but is not my ideal kind of breakfast room. To start the day in the Nordic winter I need light, light and more light. Otherwise I had no complaints whatever.
