Worst hotel I've ever stayed
This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in and I wonder how they have managed to get three stars? As a woman travelling alone, the area where the hotel is located is definitely not recommendable. Everywhere little groups of gangs hanging around and making you feel very unsecure. There was no elevator to my "room". The room itself was shabby and little like a prison cell. No remote control for the TV, extremely dirty carpet, worn out and half torn curtains, bad matress, very small bathroom. I didn't have dinner there, the breakfast buffet was ok. Never ever would I go back or recommend to anyone.

budget price
Good value for the price! I made a reservation from gtahotels.com but I was a bit worried for the bad reviews. The hotel wasn't that bad! Neat, well serviced rooms provide you a comfortable sleep. I should warn you about the noise. You had better not book a room at the front. The hotel located on a busy street. We were at one of the front rooms so had difficulty to sleep. Bathroom was tiny but not a big deal. I could park my car to the hotel's carpark. It was good. The hotel near many attractions and metro station. Hotel staff could be more friendly. Overall we had a lovely stay. It is suitable for short stays.

The Hotel itself isnt as bad as some reviews suggest. The hotel is Basic but clean! The staff that we had spoke perfect english (apart from the night manager). The downside is the location. Its in the ghetto!!Its about 10-15 mins walk from the grand place but its a 10-15min walk through a rough area where you are always on your guard. The Eurostar station is more then 500 meters and my advice would be to catch the metro as it is only ONE stop and takes just 2 minutes. Overall you can't really complain about the hotel for the price you are paying. If you want a hotel in the centre, which is extravagent this hotel isnt for you! Its not the hotels fault that it is placed where it is but its up to you whether you want to pay a bit more to be more central. As for the surroundings of the hotel, i have to be honest, they are typical of brussels.I wouldnt recommend brussels to anyone, due to the number of immigrants, tramps and just general clenliness!

"Very Nice Hotel, Great Location near to the Metro, Bus & Tram"
Very Good Location. It is minutes from the Metro station (Clemencau) and the Bus 20 & Tram 83 stops. It is about 15 minute walk to the Midi Station. Very good room & bathroom, clean and comfortable. There is an inhouse bar area and breakfast, lunch & dinner is available. The breakfast was a very good continental style with juice, cereals, yougart, boiled eggs, cheese and ham, fresh rolls, jam, fresh fruit, cake and plenty of coffee and tea. I would recommend this hotel to friends and business colleagues. Yes, I will stay there again.

"Very friendly"
We have just returned from a five night stay in Brussels and we found this hotel to be exactly what we needed. It's small, very friendly and inviting. The staff are always polite and helpful. Yes, It's on a busy (ish) street, but It's a short walk from the Grand Place and main shopping areas. In the evening there is a coutesy bus to and from town on the hour. The room was basic, but clean and well maintained. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. We would certainly choose this hotel again.

"ignore the bad reports"
I found this to be a cheap, clean hotel with good food in the restaurant and a decent selection of beers. Hotel must have changed owners since some of the reports on this site were written, as I did not have any problems

Nice Stay Jan07
The Scandinavian Hotel is an Oasis. After getting off the train at Gare Brussels-Midi, I walked to the hotel. It's a little easy to get turned around - especially at night if you don't know the streets and many shops are closed and it may be easier to take a cab. During the day the streets are busy with shop owners and foot traffic....during the night it's not the best place to be walking alone. However, the Scandinavian Hotel was like an Oasis when I found it...lit up, clean, very welcoming. The room was clean and spacious - a good value. Breakfast is included and was nice. If you don't need to be in the Centre, and looking for a good value, this was a nice place to stay.

Problems with noise
The hotel is good at average standards. However some noise problems at night. We slept 2 nights at the hotel. First night was somewhat noisy due to traffic from the street. Second night was awful due to the fact that a bar opposite the street was open all night with open windows. The bar is called Les Chevalier and the hotel has over time called the police more than once to get silence. However this has obviously not solved the problem.

"Good value for money"
I don't agree wholly with the member from the Netherlands who stayed at the Scandinavia in April. I found the room clean and tidy and situated at the back of the hotel very quiet. Not much of an outlook and the area round about is rather rundown. No problems with locks on doors or dirty loos. I agree with the comments about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the buffet breakfast was excellent. There is a tube station (Clemenceau) about five minutes walk away, but we preferred a taxi (7 euros to Midi station and about 10 euros to the town centre). As a tourist you have to watch it late in the evening anywhere in Brussels, so don't walk around swinging a handbag.
