"Great hotel once the renovation is complete...."
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary in Paris. The room was extremely nice and very updated. The bathroom was big with all of the amenities. The hotel itself is beautiful; modern and charming "paris like" all at the same time which we wanted. The room was a good size, not too small.
We felt the bed was super comfortable which is a lot for my husband to say since he travels the world for his job and stays at mainly five and four star hotels.
The location of the hotel was perfect. We walked the to all of the sites without any problem. There is a lot of really nice shopping around the hotel and resturants too.
We did get a room that did have scaffolding in front of the window, which probably explains the great rate we got on the room per night. This was not a big deal since it was warm in Paris and we had the air conditioning on the entire time. The only downfall we had was at around 8:00 in the morning we could hear a slight banging just on Friday morning , not on the Saturday morning. It was obviously the workers trying to complete the renovation. I will mention this renovation is basically done. Just a few finishing touches going on.
Overall, we would stay here again when we return to Paris.
One more thing.. the staff in the hotel were all very nice and helpful.
Everyone spoke perfect English and we were always greeed with a genuine smile...

"Brilliant location and quality"
I stayed here for a week, and was pleasantly surprised.
The staff were very warm and helpful. The room service staff were so bubbly and friendly that l tipped often, which for me is unsual.
However the rooms were just to die for l had an executive room and it had big double balconie doors, big LCD tv and a great bathroom. Thee bed was just heavenly and the pillows were plump and perfect infact l purchased two after sleeping on them.
Location couldnt be more perfect.
The only drawback was lack of Restuarant or bar facilities as its better to dine out or have room service breakfast.
I would most certainly return and use this hotel

"Consistently good hotel, even if the rack rates are pretty high"
I stay in the Hotel Scribe when I visit Paris on business -- about once every three months or so. Like all Sofitels, it's reliably good: the beds are amazingly comfortable, the rooms are all a decent size (if not huge), and the bathrooms excellent (including great Roger & Gallet toiletries, and good linen).
When I last visited in March 07, the lobby was still mid-renovation and the building clad in scaffolding; however, all the rooms now appear to have been renovated.
The location is fine if you're on business, but for a tourist (especially one in their 20s or 30s) I'd say there are more happening parts of town to be. That said, Paris is easy to get around, so you're never going to be more than 15 minutes away from the action by metro.
The staff are always friendly at check-in, and room service is efficient. The only downside is the cost: my company pays for this, so I'm not too bothered about the rack rate of EUR400 or so for the night, but if I were a tourist I'd definitely shop around for a better price.
One tip with any Sofitel: be sure to sign up for their Privilege card loyalty programme, which quickly earns you enough points for free nights.

"Perfect hotel"
We just returned from a week in Paris. We picked the Scribe based in part on prior reviews and in part on its location. I can say that we could not have picked a better hotel! True, the exterior is covered with scaffolding, as a major renovation nears completion. On the day we left, workers were beginning to remove the scaffolding at the top of the hotel. But so what? The rooms are now all new, clean and very comfortable. The hotel staff (day and night) were exceedingly friendly and helpful...and bi-lingual for those who fear the language
barrier (don't). We only ate one dinner at the hotel. The food was good but a bit overpriced, however, we were entertained by a great piano player. The hotel is located in the midst of a lot of cafes, at
which we had nothing but great meals. There is a patisserie a block away from which we bought croissants and other pastries for breakfast. A taxi queue is across the street and the Metro station is
a block away. Also, the L'Open bus tour office is a short 5 minute walk away. For the shoppers, the two "grand magasins", Aux Printemps
and Gallerie Lafayette are only 3 blocks away. It is a 15 minute walk
to the Louvre (I did it in the rain). In short, the location is excellent, the neighborhood charming. There isn't one thing I would complain about. Our next trip to Paris (may it be soon) will certainly include the Hotel Scribe as our home away from home!

"Good business hotel"
The hotel is still going through a refurbishment . The lobby still has to be accessed through the bar area. To be honest when I first arrived I thought the place looked like a bit of a dump, it's only when you leave the ground floor that the hotel begins to look nice. The rooms look as though they have been recently refurbished and whilst not the biggest in the world were perfectly fine. The bathroom is a good size and my only gripe is that the water pressure in the shower could have been stronger.
Good for business as near the Metro and the RER; if you need to go to La Defense.
The posted rate in reception is €500 a night but you should be able to get a cheaper deal due to the works going on.

"Luzury hotel in a great location"
Stayed at the Scribe for three nights on a proceline bookin of $215 a night. It is a bargain at that price and priceline was never mentioned. I asked for two adjacent rooms and the request was promptly met with 2 rooms on the third floor. The reception and the concierge spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. The rooms are all newly renovated and have a very modern look to them. Close to the metro: you are pretty much within 5 minutes of a leisurely walk from the Opera station. Renovated rooms: the rooms are very spacious by European standards. The bathrooms were spacious and came with nice toilettries and plush bath-robes and slippers. The mini-bar was over priced but the tea and coffee selection in the room was very good. The only bad thing about this hotel is that fact that its located in a part of Paris that goes to sleep quite early, so for night-life and dinner after 8pm, you'll have to look elsewhere.

"All new ! ! !"
We have recently stayed at "Le Scribe" and I have to admit it was just great...
Having heard about this hotel being run down and old, our stay ended up in a superberbly renovated spacious room. True, the lobby is still "old Parisien style" (nice though) but the rooms are great! Colors, space, bathroom, tv... and the famous "My Bed"!!! You have to try it to believe it... the wellbeing was perfect...
The staff are welcoming and very helpful! They had answers to all our questions (especially the concierge ladies!) and took really care of us during our stay.
Breakfast is a big buffet breakfast with a lot of choice and more than enough to start an exciting day in Paris.
Acces to the hotel from the airport CDG is very convenient, just take the Roissy Bus to arrive just next to the Scribe.
We really can recommend "Le Scribe": Great location, superbe rooms, lovely staff...
Home away from home... "Merci"

"Upmarket Hotel Scribe"
We are regular users of Sofitel Group Hotels which essentially offer a good standard of room and facilities Hotel Scribe operated by sofitel was no exception.
Superbly located within easy walking distant of many of the Paris sights, our redecorated room on the 5th floor was spotlessly clean and the bathroon modern and relatively spacious. The staff were helpful & polite.
Shop the web for price and state clearly direct to the hotel your room preferences and requests they emailed direct and we got exactly what we asked for. Very good news in Paris!.

"Ultimate Luxury hotel"
We had a deluxe room which was booked through our whole-sale travel agency and it was truly a luxury. The room/bathroom is very spacious, new, and clean. Wonderful decor as well. We really miss the feather-top bed. Everyday after our long sight-seeing day, we looked forward to our comfortable bed at the hotel!
The concierge was very friendly and helpful as well. They knew we were non-French speaker and was very friendly in giving us directions/recommendations in English, no attitude at all.
The location was also an absolute bonus. It's a short 3 min walk to the nearest metro stop. There are also 2 major department stores near by and excellent shopping environment. There is also a gourmet grocery store in one of the dept store which we bought some food for dinner at times.
We stayed there for 4 nights and had wonderful memories. We would definitely go back again!
