Charming, moderately sized hotel...
Selandia Hotel, newly-renovated and comfortable, it is well-known for its friendly and personal service. It is situated in the heart of Copenhagen, only 100 yards from the railway station, Tivoli and other attractions. The guest rooms are comfortable and cozy and designed to make our guests feel at home.
The reception area is deceptively spacious as the lobby and breakfast dining area is open planned. There is a black marbled check-in desk which greets guests on arrival while to the right is a small area of soft seating and a large plasma screen tv which is used to screen large sporting events.
A tourist-class, family-run hotel the Selandia Hotel has a cozy and friendly atmosphere. |

A nice stay
Denmark's hotels are quite expensive if compared with other countries, but we booked this one and found it quite acceptable. The room was clean and the bathroom, although a bit old, was decent.
Congratulations to the staff, that were extremely friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, too
Just a little warning: since it is located near the town hall, its bells will make it impossible to sleep beyond 8 a.m.

"Nice Hotel, Helpful staff"
A group of 12 stayed at the Selandia in late May. Everyone in the group was very satisfied with the Selandia. The room I had was nice, clean and a good size. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean. The ensuite bath was generously sized with a tub/shower and a window. The room had a large window overlooking a courtyard. Some of the group had rooms on the front of the hotel and heard some street noise, but said it was not bad. If you are noise sensitive, ask for a room on the courtyard.
Breakfast buffet was the best I have had in Europe. It offered a choice of fruit, cerials, meats, cheese, yoghurt, and breads.
The locatiion was great. The hotel is in an area with a lot of other hotels and restaurants. Although I saw a sex shop, I did not see any unsavory people on the street and felt completely safe walking the street. It is only a short walk to an ATM, to the train station, to Tivoli Gardens, and to the City Hall Square where most city tours are accessed.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They arrainged a bus for airport transfers, and a tour of the countryside at a good price. I highly recommend the Selandia for a stay in Copenhagen.

"Decent hotel with a great breakfast buffet"
Stayed at the Selandia for 5 nights last fall. Convenient to the train station, Tivoli and not a bad walk to most everything else. It does lie on the fringe of the red light district but if you approach it from the train station, you will not go through it as it extends from the Selandia in the other direction.
The hotel itself was fine. The rooms are very basic but clean and reasonably maintained for the price. The staff was helpful - not "go way out of your way" helpful but answered any questions quickly and competently. Given the propensity for a bit of commotion downstairs late at night given it's location at the edge of the red light district, it can be noisy so this might not be the place for real light sleepers.
The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast buffet. The best I have ever seen; wheels of brie and other cheeses, deli meats and liver pate, a wide variety of fresh breads and rolls, fresh fruit, fresh pastries and best of all a large dish of fresh herring (when in Copenhagen...) plus the usual cereals etc. All in all, a heck of a spread. Only European hotel I have stayed in that I genuinely looked forward to the breakfast.
All in all a clean, reasonably comfortable hotel for its price range in a convenient location with an outstanding breakfast buffet.
I would definitely return.
