"consistent friendliness of the staff"
Semiramis Inter Continental Cairo Hotel has a great location and quite unusally good range of six restaurants. But what makes the hotel stand out is the consistent friendliness of the staff, even at peak times. |

"brand new with a city view balcony "
Semiramis Inter Continental Cairo Hotel's room was brand new with a city view balcony and thick Egyptian cotton sheets and towels. The fitness center is ALWAYS open which was really immportant to me. The business ccenter is also 24/7 and well equiped. |

"The best hotel I stayed at in Egypt !"
This hotel was the best deal during my entire trip to Egypt. I stayed here for 3 nights in late March, 2005. The room was 5 star in furnishings and amazing in quality! All for about $100 U.S. a night. The hotel is very centrally located. Just go across the street to take a sailboat (falucca) down the Nile for a cheap, hour-long tour. My room overlooked Tahrir Square (the center of Cairo) but I still had a nice view up the Nile from my balcony. The hotel is only a few blocks from the Egyptian Antiquities Museum and the city's clean and efficient subway system too. They let me store my luggage for free on my 4th day after I checked out, but I was not leaving the city until the evening. I could not get an ironing board and iron within a half hour with room service, but it was left for me in my room while I went out. The staff were very polite, though. My room was very plush and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good. Be aware you will pay "tourist prices" in the hotel, so walk a few blocks and pay the prices the locals pay. For example, there is a much cheaper dry cleaner only a block away. This hotel is still an oasis in the heart of a dirty, crowded, and chaotic city.

"Perfect place for a city break"
stayed in whaht must have been the exact same room as the person who has posted photos here. This was on the 'club intercontinental' floor which are supposed to be superior rooms - it is also the non smoking floors. We were up graded here for free by the hotel when we asked for a high up room.
The pool at the hotel is lovely and the staff there couldn't be more helpful - fetching you a sun lounger, towels and drinks etc. Apart from the pool, the other best thing about this hotel is the food - with five or six international standard restaurants to choose fromyou are spoilt for choice. Cairo itself isn't big on restaurants as Egyptians don't tend to eat out very much (or so I read) so these are great to have. Don't make the mistake we did of thining we really ought to be a bit more adventurous and spend hours either a) traipsing busy traffic choked streets absolutely starving with nowhere but dodgy caffs to be found or b) go on one of the cheesy river boat dinner cruises - they are tourist hell.
