"Excellent Hotel"
We stayed here on our honeymoon in June this year - we had a room in the Nefertitti Tower which seems to be the newest part of the hotel. The room was very big with an excellent view over the nile - it was also very nicely decorated and had a lovely marble bathroom. All the staff were reallly helpful and we reallly enjoyed our stay - I would definately recommend this hotel. The hotel offers a good choice of restaurants, the Japenese one is excellent - however we did not really enjoy the others too much but I think that is just our taste and not a reflection on the hotel.

"Great service"
We stayed here in September 2005 and were very impressed with this hotel. The location is fantastic - right on the Nile and just a 15 minute walk to the Egyptian museum.
The room we stayed in had a wonderful view of the Nile. The room was spacious and well decorated with a balcony.
The swimming pool area was well maintained and there were numerous staff serving to take your bar order. However, there is no escaping the noise of city centre Cairo here.

"Loved my stay in Egypt"
stayed in Cairo for 8 days with a few good friends during the summer of 2004. You must be specific as to which Cairo you are staying at when taking a taxi from the airport, as there are 3 in the greater Cairo/Giza area.
Location: Great location next to the Nile, in the heart of the city, a 10 minute taxi from Giza and the pyramids, a walk to the tower of Cairo and many other attractions. During our stay the procession for the Olympic torch came through Egypt for the very first time in history, right in front of the Sheraton. It was amazing to watch the excitement.
Hotel Staff: The reception was generally courteous and helpful. The men that cleaned my friend and I's room were very nice and despite them speaking no English and us no Arabic, they really made great effort to communicate and wish us well. When we went to Giza to see the pyramids, a hotel receptionist who was leaving his shift offered to negotiate a taxi and accompany us to Giza (his home), also splitting up the taxi fare. A very nice gesture.
Amenities: The pool was large, clean, generally not crowded, and had a nice bar in the middle. Towels were plentiful and freely given, as were the lounge chairs. The pool is located on the 3rd floor above the street, making for a very cool view while still feeling all the heat, traffic, and life of Cairo. I liked it. The fitness room was immaculate with all the machines you could want and very well kept. The casino fed your gambling urge, but was very basic with just a half dozen various games, including the almighty Black Jack tables which persuaded me to give away several hundred dollars. Such is life.
Rooms: The rooms were clean and served their purpose. By no means romantic (was not a priority for this trip) or spectacular. All in all probably the lowest point to the hotel, nevertheless they were decent.
Restaurants: The hotel had, I believe, over half a dozen restaurants. They are fairly pricey by Egyptian standards. The food at the Japanese restaurant was the best we tried, I would however instead recommend getting authentic Egyptian food all over the city for a fraction the cost, it is delicious.
Overall impression was very good. We all enjoyed our stay and it was a superb value.
A few comments on Egypt in generall: I loved my stay, the food, the city, the people, everything there was to offer. Egyptians are hard bargainers and very aggressive, but by no means "threatening". Despite worries of attacks on tourists, which should be given their due attention, I would go back tomorrow and enjoy the country for everything it has to offer. When you go out to eat you MUST get Kushari, Shawarma, and for desert: Om Aly.
