"Really lovely hotel"
My husband and I spent a week in the Mencey in June. The hotel is really lovely with marble floors and attractive grounds. The rooms are big and some have balconies overlooking the gardens and pool.The pool area is beautiful and the pool itself is large and kept very clean. During the week the pool is very quiet but can get busy at the weekends. Food is excellent in the hotel but is expensive. There are a few restaurants nearby but the only problem is that most of the people working in them do not speak english as Santa Cruz is not a touristy area. We really enjoyed it but it is most suitable for those wanting a quiet relaxing break!

"Still a good choice at the right price"
I've read all the articles by Tripadvisor members and thought I'd add that this place is still definitely worth it at less than 120 Euros a night; I got it for 50 Euros a night in Dec 2004! OK, some fixtures are old fashioned, so what? ANd the staff were friendly both times. the grounds are very attractive.
