"Great Place!"
My family and I just got back from a week of spring skiing at Beaver Creek and we stayed at the Sheraton Mountain Vista Resort. The only bad thing I have to say about this resort is that it is warm, as if they keep the heater on..however, if you are in your room/apartment..well we opened the windows and the sliding glass doors, and we found ourselves to get cool enough to use the fireplace a little, once in a while. The place is less than ten minutes from Beaver Creek Mountain. It has a nice pool and hot tubs, which we didn't use either, but saw lots of people did use and seem to enjoy. We were asked to do a presentation, but my family got sick during the trip so we canceled. No one ever hassled us. The front desk was very nice and accomodating. The walls are a bit thin, so you have to get use to noise, especially if the place is at full capacity. It has a nice underground parking garage. Plenty of eateries around town to choose from. It has a nice family atmosphere on and off the mountain of Beaver Creek. Our unit was a larger one bedroom suite. The master room has a jacuzzi bathtub, which came in handy for soaking the tired legs. The shower has double shower heads and was large enough for two to share at the same time. Nice large double sink area too. Plenty of towels to use, and you could always call for more. King size bed with a t.v. with a fireplace in the room and a queen size sofa bed in the living room with its own t.v. and fireplace. Oddly enough, our room faced the main street. I thought this would be a problem for noise, especially since I had the windows cracked opened. By ten p.m. the town basically shuts down and we were fine with light noise coming from I-70 highway. The kitchen was nice, but small and had most utensils. If they don't have something, try calling and asking the receptionist, sometimes they can locate and bring you what you need. Two occassions, both fireplaces were not working correctly, and the maintenance crew fixed and repaired. The laundry which is stackable units are small but worked fine. Just don't overload and use liquid instead of powder detergent and it'll work fine. Do smaller loads. I was able to wash all of our ski wear and clothing before leaving and it was wonderful to have clean clothes coming home.
I have no complaints about this place. Its nicely decorated and I would give it gold crown standards. We travel quite a bit and this was a nice clean unit. The unit itself is comfortable for three. Any more, and you'll notice it's size. There isn't much closet space so you use up all the drawers in the living room and the bedroom and hang up what you can. Try not to overpack and you'll be fine. I would stay here again, although probably not during the summer months given that the units have no air conditioning. It was getting warm for spring skiing, so I don't know how cool you'll be in the summer. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom, which we did use at night. They have a spare floor fan in the closet in the bedroom to use out in the living room for those sleeping out there. I would definately use this resort during ski season. Vail mountain is about 20-45 minutes away, depending on the weather condition. That mountain is much much larger and is geared for the more experienced skier. Stay in Beaver Creek for family environment and for learning. The ski/boarding school people there are very nice.

"Luxury resort"
We have such a nice time. The resort was great. We didn't get bothered by salespeople. They offered us the tour and we declined, very easy. There are 3 hot tubs and swimming pool to use. On the 7th FL is a workout room with sauna & steamroom. There was a larger hot tub outside and a smaller one inside. We went during the off season and some of restaurants were closed, but those that were open had very good specials to entice the locals to come out and eat. Every restaurant we went to was good. City Market is close-by and is a full service grocery store. We had a one bedroom with granite countertops and Fiesta dinnerware in the cupboards. There is gas fireplace and 2 TV's. The bathroom was spacious with 2 doors so you can go in through the bedroom or the kitchen area. It had a partial kitchen with a full refrigator and Microwave/Convention oven. There is no air conditioning and the room was warm so we slept with the sliding glass door open every night. Vail has a free newspaper so you can read what is going on in the area. There are lots of bike trails and the mountains are beautiful. Driving through Glenwood Canyon was terrific. Each day we went to a different area.

"Great Visit"
Stayed at the SMV in May 2007 - we are owners with a different property in Florida and exchanged our week for Avon. We declinded the 'tour' and nothing was ever said again. We met family from KC (we are in Arizona) so it was a mid point to get to. Check in was simple (the front desk staff was younger and sounded a bit 'scripted' when they talked, but they were friendly and knowledgable). Had the 2 bedroom unit, spacious even with twin 2 year olds running around. I called in advance about activities and to insure there were cribs available. Got a call back from the staff regarding things to do in the area before our trip and there were two cribs waiting for us when we entered the room. We were there in the "off season" between ski and summer so there were some stores/restaurants closed. There was a Super WalMart close for shopping (grocery) and the hotel gave us a discount card (10% +) to many of the local restaurants, shops etc. The rooms were very warm, but if you kept the window/sliding door open the breeze was great and the fresh air was the best. Took the kids 'swimming' in the large outdoor hottub on the 7th floor roof and they loved it, and we loved the view. The hotel had a poker night, coloring contest for the kids and a list of other things to do when there. We would definately recomend staying here.
