"WOnderful stay"
We took a girls trip to Tampa March 26-28 and stayed at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk. When we arrived, we found our reservations had been mishandled. They realized their mistake and upgraded us to the concierge level which included free breakfast and afternoon drinks. This was a very nice, clean hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

"We must be lucky travellers!"
We stayed for 2 nights in a king-bed room overlooking the river. Location, 4 stars: view of Hillsborough River, close to downtown (less than 15 minutes walk to convention center, Harbor Island, Tampa University, some museums and restaurants), quiet and safe neighborhood. Facility, 3 stars: decent restaurant and bar (not visited), outdoor swimming pool with river view, spacious clean room with balcony and coffee station, comfortable bed and pillows. Need to improve bath tub drainage (slow during shower), repair ice machine (on my floor), replace carpets in public areas (unpleasant look, not necessarily dirty or moldy). Free van shuttle, 4 stars: semi on-demand service to 3 popular areas (Channelside Plaza near cruise terminals, Ybor City and Hyde Park Village). This was a surprise benefit, since their website does not mention it. Our request to be dropped off at the cruise terminal was granted also. Staff and service, 4 stars: the front desk people were always helpful and courteous, the shuttle drivers were particularly helpful to tourists in suggesting places and answering questions. Maid service was as good as expected. To be fair, this Sheraton is a bit below the same brand in other major cities. I can understand other reviewers' frustration if they thought all Sheratons are created equal. But consider that this location is an acquired old hotel about a year ago. I hope they would start renovation slowly but surely.
